We are looking for our next Distribution Manager supporting the Supply Chain and Warehouse Distribution Team, in Mississauga, Ontario Canada. As a Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the functions of shipping, receiving, custom packs assembly, inventory control, returns, and cycle counting. You will develop strategic direction for the Canadian distribution operations, including implementation of the same.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Planning and controlling production schedules and coordinating with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials.
  • Estimating and scheduling the human resources, tools, and equipment needed for the production process. Researching, evaluating, and recommending changes to production processes, systems, technology, or equipment to enhance the organization's production capabilities.
  • (40%) Monitoring all product distribution functions through two distribution warehouses in Mississauga and Calgary and prioritizing team members' work to ensure efficient and effective operations. Managing and maintaining satisfactory results for all performance metrics (warehouse KPIs such as order accuracy, on-time delivery performance, inventory – cycle count performance, and metrics). Staff performance management and development.
  • (20%) Ensuring company and legal regulations, ethical standards, health & safety, GMP, and NFCM controls are in place and being followed through ongoing monitoring, coaching, and training.
  • (30%) Developing, tracking, and making appropriate changes/corrections to annual Distribution budgets. Managing ongoing activities to achieve cost control/reductions within the budget scope.
  • (10%) Interfacing with other SMU Heads, Distribution Heads, and Functional Leaders to formulate strategies and implement tactical solutions for achievement of corporate objectives (process improvements, capacity increases, etc.).

What you’ll bring to Alcon:

  • Minimum: College diploma in a technical or business field coupled with APICS certification as CPIM or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 years of demonstrated leadership.
  • Preferred: University degree in Commerce or Business.
