**INTRODUCTION**:
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join our Human Resources Team.

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources the Human Resources Advisor will support the Human Resources Department with Best Practices, supporting the Corporate and Operating objectives, by acting as a trusted advisor and providing guidance in various Human Resources functions.

- Hours of work: 9 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday
- Location: Based at the HQ Office, 2947 Portland Drive, Oakville, Ontario (hybrid in-office 3/2)

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an experienced and trusted Human Resources Advisor.
- Collaborates, builds and maintains a positive relationship with employees, management and union representatives.
- Serves as liaison on HR initiatives and issues between the Corporate Office and the Branch offices.
- Investigates, responds and resolves internal and third-party employee complaints.
- Completes confirmation of employment requests for salaried staff.
- Completes third-party requests for employment files and related information.
- Reviews, approves, processes Leave of Absences requests.
- Works through, to resolution, any new and ongoing employee performance issues and implementing performance improvement plans.
- Effectively handles and resolves employee complaints by conducting investigations.
- Effectively investigates and responds to Step 1 Union Grievances.
- Provides guidance and interpretation of Policies and ensures compliance with all provisions within the Collective Agreement.
- Proactively communicates with the Vice President, Human Resources any issues that may have a significant impact to the business. Other duties as may be assigned reasonably assigned.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources and/or related field of study.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ progressively responsible Human Resources/Labour Relations experience gained in a similar services-based environment.
- Designation as a CHRP and asset.
- A relationship builder, fosters a collaborative culture, with a demonstrated ability to problem solve, is accountable and takes ownership.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office) and hands on experience, as an Administrator, working with various HRIS systems.
- Must have or qualify for Federal Reliability Clearance.
- Must be able to commute to the workplace and work from home as required.
