Community Development and Administration Coordinator

Victoria, Canada North Park Neighbourhood Association Full time

The Community Development and Administration Coordinator is responsible for day to day administration of association activities, facilitating community animation by identifying and nurturing opportunities for volunteerism and other forms of engagement, securing funding for relevant programs and activities, and fostering linkages and partnerships amongst members, businesses and non-profit organizations interested in improving the livability of our neighbourhood, and supporting objectives such as strengthening equity, improving wellbeing, empowerment, resilience and connectivity.

**Primary responsibilities**

Administration
- Maintain NPNA’s monthly finances including payment of vendors and contractors, reconciliation and monthly documentation of accounts against funding allocations
- Participate in annual budget development
- Submit required reports for events, community development, funding, etc.
- Develop and maintain a volunteer database
- Help maintain and update database of members, sponsors, partners and funders
- Organize and chair monthly public meetings and regular board meetings

Community activation, outreach and engagement:

- Solicit and collate content, and coordinate the production of NPNA newsletter and updates to Wordpress website and social media
- Lead and/or support Board on community initiatives and activities
- Liaise with City of Victoria Councillors and City of Victoria staff (Planning, Land Use, Transportation, etc)
- Work with North Park residents on quality of life matters, including diversity and inclusion, reconciliation, community gardens, traffic calming and safe transportation, safety, access to resources, placemaking, neighbourhood planning, etc.
- Plan events and other activities that create connections within and amongst communities in North Park
- Listen to concerns from community members and provide support in reaching a resolution, support from the City, connections to community members, etc.

Partnership development:

- Develop partnerships with organizations within the neighbourhood (businesses, NGOs), other communities and other Community Development Coordinators in Greater Victoria

**Hours and location**
- Hours of work: This is a part-time contract position for 20-25 hours per week
- Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required to attend North Park community events and other activities associated with the responsibilities of this position.

**Qualifications**
- Relevant post-secondary education (e.g. community planning and/or development, public administration, social science or other relevant field), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years related experience
- Experience with social media
- Experience in volunteer management
- Computer skills including MS Office suite, Wordpress, MailChimp and presentation tools
- Knowledge of community development, economic development and leadership
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Clean, recent criminal record check

**Job Type**: Part-time
