Job Overview

The North Park Neighbourhood Association seeks an experienced Community Development Lead to oversee the organization's growth and strengthen its impact. This full-time contract position involves strategic planning, financial management, and daily operations while collaborating with the Board, staff, and residents.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute NPNA's strategic plan alongside the Board, setting and achieving goals that expand the organization's capacity and community impact.
  2. Grant Writing and Fundraising: Lead grant application efforts, oversee reporting, identify new funding sources, and maintain relationships with existing funders.
  3. Support Board and Community Initiatives: Collaborate with the Board to support community initiatives and liaise with City of Victoria Councillors and staff to advocate for neighbourhood needs.
  4. Capacity Building and Event Coordination: Expand the NPNA's programs and operations, including pursuing a permanent community center, and assist in planning and executing events in collaboration with the Community Engagement Coordinator.
  5. Alignment with City Plans: Consult and ensure that NPNA projects and goals align with the City of Victoria's plans and strategies.
  6. Administrative Oversight: Monitor expenses related to the Community Development portfolio, participate in annual budget development, and submit required reports for events, community development, and funding.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as community planning and development, public administration, or social science.
  • A minimum three years' experience in a leadership role within a non-profit or community organization, ideally with experience in managing or working closely with a board of directors.
  • Proven ability to manage and engage with social media platforms to promote programs, events, and community initiatives.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial planning, and basic accounting to ensure responsible allocation of funds.
  • Ability to connect with diverse community members, foster partnerships, and build relationships with residents, businesses, and local government.
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving community needs and handle varied responsibilities in a dynamic, small, non-profit environment.
Compensation

This is a one-year contract position with an estimated salary of $50-60 per hour, equivalent to $40,000-$48,000 annually, based on 30-35 hours worked per week.
