**Description**:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, HR Policy & Compliance, the HR Policy & Compliance Consultant is the first point of contact for policy interpretation and advice regarding non-union employees and general employment policies for divisional HR offices. The Consultant supports multiple, simultaneous Human Resources initiatives through project coordination, ensuring all assigned projects meet deadlines and success criteria.

The Consultant is charged with supporting major change initiatives, core HR projects, and process improvements related to HR Service Delivery across all three campuses. Such project coordination and support includes: (a) developing and coordinating draft reports, briefing notes, information & research notes, project documentation, presentations, correspondence, and templates for review by the Assistant Director; (b) providing advice and administrative support on policy matters and other issues to divisional HR offices and administrative leadership, under the guidance of the Assistant Director; (c) undertaking detailed research on a wide variety of issues and topics; and, (d) following up on decisions made by HR project leads, and project committees.

**Qualifications Required**:
**I. Education**:
University degree in a relevant discipline and course work in the Human Resources field leading to the completion of the CHRL designation or equivalent combination of education and experience. Project management designation preferred. Graduate degree in Industrial Relations and/or Human Resources is an asset.

Proficiency with MS Office and project management tools (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Word, Access). Proficiency in use of Project Management software (including JIRA, MS Project).
Ability to provide advice and guidance on complex issues for review.

**IV. Other**:
Strong research, writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure; familiarity with University governance, higher education sector, and public sector administration; high degree of political acuity and judgment; ability to deal with senior University Officers in a manner which facilitates cooperation and consensus building; ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact; superior organizational skills in planning, project management and task coordination; flexibility and problem solver orientation; and strong leadership capabilities. Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality.
