Reporting to the Associate Director, Work-Integrated and Experiential Learning Services (WIELS), the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator proposes and maintains the college-wide strategy to administer work integrated learning (WIL) activities, develops WIL procedures and documentation, and recommends a strategy to ensure consistent, safe, meaningful and quality WIL experiences for students. The incumbent supports faculty programs with field placement/mandatory professional practice across the academic faculties and is the key point of contact for faculty partners who deliver program WIL. They facilitate the development and transition for all field placement/mandatory professional practice to the Sheridan Works platform, including consultation, development and support for the configuration of individual placement modules. By ensuring currency of knowledge, trends and legislated obligations, the incumbent develops and maintains the procedures for the WIL Protocol, approval process, forms and documentation for a consistent process across all WIL programs (including co-op, internship, field placement and mandatory professional practice) and leads a WIL Community of Practice. They coordinate with Career-Integrated Learning (C-IL) administrators, and other stakeholders as needed, to ensure currency of forms, and to maintain and support a collection process (e.g. articulation agreements for unpaid WIL). They lead the analysis and reporting of WIL data, conduct on-going research to maintain knowledge on paid and unpaid WIL activities, and coordinate the Sheridan Co-op/WIL Student of the Year Awards. The incumbent is a WIL specialist who builds fluency for WIL across Sheridan.

What You’ll be Doing

Leading and executing a plan to enhance the delivery of current WIL (e.g., field placement) programs and transition of new programs into the Sheridan Works, and continuous improvement of WIL programs in Sheridan Works;
Consulting with staff/faculty to collect information/data and provide recommendations for how each specific program should be configured/updated in the system and well as ways to deliver the programs;
Maintaining detailed program design records to understand development and how it compares to other field placement programs; developing new in-take process for each program to ensure consistent data/process is followed and entered into the system; defining project timelines; maintaining necessary communication with all stakeholders to ensure timelines are met; and ensuring an alignment of the WIL module to other strategic priorities;
Providing strategic recommendation; leading implementation and ensuring consistent program maintenance as it relates to WIL types, process, operations, and budgets;
Designing and proposing a WIL strategy for the institution, including a plan for enhancing WIL programs/activities, mitigating risk, ensuring liability coverage and consistency of data tracking and WIL protocol/process;
Maintaining best practice research for WIL in Ontario post-secondary institutions to ensure all regulations, ministry programs (e.g., WSIB/Chubb insurance for unpaid WIL) are followed and appropriate records are maintained;
Leading WIL Community of Practice to support all WIL Practitioners, including co-op and Faculties;
Providing recommendations to manager/C-IL to ensure continuous improvement of WIL Protocol and to respond to issues that impact WIL activities (e.g., COVID-19, vaccines, etc.);
Ensuring systems are in place and all forms are distributed, collected, maintained by WIL Practitioners;
Conducting audits on elements such as Unpaid WIL agreement to ensure terms of agreement are active/not expired;
Coordinating the WIL/EL and Co-op awards nomination process and events;
Coordinating various award events to celebrate the success of co-op and WIL recipients;
Designing strategies to collect student nominations from the co-op team, Faculties and other stakeholders;
Communicating with students, staff, Faculty, administrators throughout the process;
Leading the selection committee and event committee by developing a project plan for each task;
Developing, managing WIL data collection to support decision making, quality assurance, analytics and reporting;
Participating in additional WIL/EL activities and projects aligned with the on-going growth and development of WIL/EL at Sheridan, as led by the WIELS unit; participating as an active member of EWO and CEWIL;
Performing other related duties, as assigned.
