Overview:
The CSM Coordinator is responsible for the administration, promotion and auditing of the Lafarge Contractor Safety Management (CSM) program and in addition supporting the safety management systems across all the plants in GTA Aggregates. The CSM Coordinator is responsible to develop, communicate and track short & mid-term contractor safety objectives based on business/operation experience and feedback. Priorities within each area/site should be established through completion of a CSM Gap Analysis of any and all subcontractors working at the area/site, to understand their level of compliance and to identify any corrective actions necessary to address identified deficiencies. In doing so, the CSM Coordinator’s time can be focused on those subcontractors that need the most assistance to achieve and maintain compliance to Lafarge’s CSM requirements. Accident history analysis and personal observation of our subcontractors will be used to gauge CSM program compliance. High risk activities such as Energy Isolation, LOTOTO, WAH, and Confined Space will also be monitored with a goal to observe these tasks and provide constructive feedback regarding compliance with Lafarge expectations. The CSM Coordinator will support subcontractors to ensure that their employees are properly trained and that appropriate documentation is maintained.

**Responsibilities**:
**Health & Safety**:

- Promote a progressive safety culture through regular engagement with Subcontractor Owners, as well as Lafarge Management and Frontline Employees with an objective of “zero” incidents.
- Administer, promote and review the CSM program, Lafarge Health & Safety policies, processes and procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the subcontractor meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory requirements.
- Develop and assist with the execution of strategies to minimize contractor exposure to risk and improve procedural on-site safety.
- Periodically participate in Subcontractor Daily huddles/tailgate meetings to provide feedback and support to subcontractor management.
- Conduct random site visits and perform formal inspections/audits of subcontractor activities, and provide constructive feedback based thereon to assist subcontractor health & safety performance improvement.
- Monitor of status of audit corrective actions and communicate at monthly operations meetings.

**Human Resources**:

- Assist Subcontractors in the development and co-ordination of effective H&S training programs for their supervisors/employees to realize safety efficiencies and improvements.
- In addition, assist with the administration and execution of progressive discipline when it relates to health & safety infractions committed by the subcontractor or their representatives.

**Administrative Management**:

- Assist in planning, driving and tracking of Subcontractor Health & Safety performance KPI’s using local/regional tools, to identify trends.
- Strive for 100% subcontractor compliance to Lafarge CSM requirements, including registration in data management systems facilitated by external vendors.

**Land Management**:

- Assist in ensuring the implementation and management of operational standards that govern subcontractor activities and mitigate our impact.

**Environmental Management**:

- Assist in ensuring that subcontractors meet or exceed all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines regarding environmental management and protection, during the course of daily activities.

**Other Duties**:

- Participate in monthly operations meeting and chair the health & safety portion of the meeting by delivering an update on Subcontractor compliance

**Relationships with Others Jobs**:

- Reports to the Operations Manager
- Works closely with Plant Managers, Health & Safety Manager, Area Health & Safety Coordinator
- Works closely with the ECAN Health & Safety Department to develop and maintain a culture of safety while ensuring policies and procedures are followed
- Works closely with the Land Manager and Environmental Manager to ensure all government and Lafarge Guidelines are met or exceeded
