We are looking for a Payroll Supervisor to join our dynamic finance team to head and support payroll operations in our Montreal studio.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, adjustments, records of employment etc. in accordance with relevant company standards, regulations and laws
- Monitor and validate of the payroll to ensure the accuracy of the amounts paid
- Ensure that the invoices related to the group insurance program are consistent with the premiums paid by the employees
- Advise other team members on matters relating to payroll
- Perform the year-end payroll process (T4, RL-1, other applicable forms), including the reporting of taxable benefits in accordance with provincial and federal legislation
- Perform payroll entries, balance the general ledger and financial statements with the payroll register
- Balance accounts or the CSST, WSIB, WorkSafeBC
- Develop and implement payroll procedures which will ensure data integrity and compliance
- Identify and understand problems and opportunities relating to payroll, using effective approaches to select the appropriate action/to obtain a satisfactory resolution
- Support the Human Resources and Finance teams in the implementation of various projects
- Perform monthly payroll adjustments (ie; taking into account vacation pay, time banks (TOIL) with the income statement payroll accounts
- Provide guidance to employees on matters relating to payroll
- Assist HR with matters relating to insurance premiums for unpaid leave, maternity, paternity, parental, and illness-related leave
- Manage the return from the above mentioned leaves (in regards to the insurance program and vacation time), update the system for matters involving unpaid leave, and ensure that the insurance company has been paid and, if they haven't, proceed with the claim
- Respond to requests from government agencies as well as other service providers for matters relating to payroll
- Hold a Canadian Payroll Association accreditation
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience working directly with the full cycle payroll and benefits administration
- Experience and/or training in accounting
- Experience in team management, project management and benefits program management
- Knowledge of provincial (multi-province) laws and payroll laws and regulations
- Knowledge of provincial and federal taxable benefits related to payroll
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot table, VLOOKUP etc.), Google Sheets, and MS Office Suite
- Organized and structured - able to prioritize and track detailed progress towards set goals
- Ability to work in a team, valuing the input and feedback from other team members as well as other departments to foster a results-oriented environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all corporate levels
- Bilingual (French and English, written and spoken)
- Experience in a workplace which employs foreign workers
- Knowledge of Nethris payroll software or Employer D an asset
