**Program Area**:
Nova Scotia Health provides sustainable safe and high quality health services that are accessible, people-centred, promote health and wellness and optimize the health of all Nova Scotians. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

The Medical Affairs portfolio plays a key role in ensuring the quality of medical care provided by the physicians of Nova Scotia Health Authority. It does this through the management and stewardship of the medical staff governance structure, physician human resource management processes, physician leadership development, the negotiation and management of physician contracts, and the management of the credentialing and privileging process. The portfolio provides provincial support across all zones.

**Responsibilities**:
The Organizational Development Consultant works in conjunction with the Medical Affairs leadership development team to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting the individual physician and team leadership and development goals. This position will provide conflict management expertise to the Medical Affairs team and physician leaders with a focus to improve the conflict competence of the physician leader, address performance concerns, and improve team function. S/he also collaborates with the VP Medicine and Zone Medical Executive Directors to identify situations that would benefit from alternative/appropriate dispute resolution services and designs and implements strategic interventions.

In addition, she/he will provide expertise around learning/training programs; leadership development; performance management; engagement, change management; and workplace culture.

Primary outcomes of the Organizational Development Consultant include conflict management and resolution, learning and development, team development, improved engagement and retention, career development and succession planning. She/he will build strong relationships within the physician community and key staff across the organization and with appropriate external groups and stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:

- A post-secondary degree program in a relevant discipline such as Organizational development, Adult Education, Social or Behavioral Sciences, or a combination of education, experience and training, combined with an advanced program in conflict studies/management
- Master’s Degree in Conflict Studies/Management, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Social or Behavioral Sciences, or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent education, training and experience is considered an asset.
- Meditation Certification, required
- One hundred fifty (150) hours training applicable to workplace conflict management, such as conflict analysis, coaching, group processes and interventions, psychometric assessments, change management, management of high conflict situations, required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience consulting with senior level leaders.
- 5-7 years progressive management experience in a health care environment with understanding of health care culture preferred
- Experience working in the Adult Education or Organizational Development fields is required.
- Strong leadership development and training background is required.
- Relevant certifications and training in Professional Coaching through an accredited body of the International Coach Federation (ICF) is an asset.
- Superior interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills. Demonstrates high level of trust, confidentiality, integrity, and leadership presence.
