Job Description Summary

The Workplace Wellbeing Practices and Learning Consultant provides leadership and expertise with broad-reaching influence across the University by advocating, promoting and leading strategic, evidence-based and innovative University-wide workplace wellbeing actions, initiatives, and learning opportunities that support the UBC Strategic Plan, Wellbeing Strategic Framework, the UBC Focus on People strategy, Inclusion Action Plan, Indigenous Strategic Plan, and the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges that supports a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant workplace where all people, places, and communities can flourish.

The Workplace Wellbeing Practices and Learning Consultant engages strategically, collaboratively and through inquiry with senior leaders and stakeholders in diverse portfolios across the institution; advocates for the psychological and physical wellbeing of faculty, staff, and workplaces; influences organizational workplace wellbeing strategies, priorities, and learning opportunities; collaboratively identifies opportunities and implements evidence-based and innovative actions and practices that reinforce the University s mission, values, and culture that recognizes that individual wellbeing practices as well as the social, psychological and physical environment are important factors that collectively contribute the success and positive contribution of faculty, staff, and workplaces, and ensures the University is a healthy, safe and supportive place to work.

Organizational Status

Reports to the Senior Lead, Workplace Wellbeing Strategies, and works collaboratively with others across the VP HR portfolio, VP Students portfolio and within faculties, departments and administrative units. Liaises externally with other health and wellbeing professionals, consultants, and/or service providers.

Work Performed

Leads, advocates for, promotes, designs, implements and influences strategic, cohesive and comprehensive University wide workplace wellbeing actions, initiatives, learning and development opportunities. Develops partnerships with HR, faculties, departments and administrative units to ensure faculty and staff benefit from a physically and psychologically safe and healthy work environment and have access to opportunities to adopt healthy and productive lifestyle practices and coping skills. Educates leadership, managers, and supervisors on the factors that influence and promote wellbeing in the workplace through dialogue, access to resources, and embedding learning in development programs.

Oversees a systematic and coordinated evaluation of the wellbeing of the University s workplace and to identify trends and psychosocial risk factors that have a negative impact on the work environment. Assesses workplace wellbeing needs of Faculties, departments, and units. Analyzes the root causes and creates an integrated and collaborative approach to developing plans and/or new actions or initiatives based on those findings. Maintains evaluation framework and monitors outcomes to ensure effectiveness of actions or initiatives.

Guides the execution, delivery, and reporting of workplace wellbeing audits and assessments of policies, procedures, processes, and decision-making. Ensures the appropriate stakeholders are involved, manages relationships, oversees the work of consultants, and ensures the delivery of reports, related recommendations, and evaluations are on time.

Engages, establishes, and mobilizes internal and external training, and learning opportunities to meet workplace wellbeing learning and organizational needs. Creates long-term workplace wellbeing learning strategy and plan defining objectives, outcomes, facilitato
