Why is this role important?
- The Analyst for the Organ Donation & Transplantation (ODT), Standards and Repository team is responsible for supporting the development of data collection standards, data validation rules and internal/external documentation for the new CanODT data repository.
- The Analyst will work closely with Information Technology (IT) team members to carry out user acceptance testing and troubleshooting for bugs and system changes. They will support data providers in adherence to CanODT data submission standards, including conducting of mapping or gap analyses of data elements captured, assisting in responding to client requests for information, and supporting advisory committee and other stakeholder meetings and presentations, as required.
- What you'll do
- 1. Assists in the design, testing and implementation of the repository build and provides support for external data submission solutions, working closely with internal stakeholders such as Information Technology Services (ITS) and external partners such as Canada Health Infoway and data providers / software vendors.
- 2. Supports the development and maintenance of relevant technical and user documentation related to data content standards, process documentation, submission specifications, system testing and data quality, as well as summaries for project deliverables and other artefacts, as required.
- 3. Provides support for the development and maintenance of data content standards for the new CanODT data repository. This includes leveraging and mapping existing national and local standards; development of standards documentation; working closely with the internal ODT project team on indicator development; and consulting with CIHI’s standards, quality and architecture teams in the development of new standards.
- 4. Supports data quality analysis, as applicable, using Python or similar analytical tools.
- 5. Provides timely responses to requests for information from internal and external clients, meeting CIHI service standards while ensuring compliance with CIHI privacy and security policies and procedures.
- 6. Participates in meetings with internal and external working groups and prepares documentation, presentations, and briefing notes, as required.
- 7. Contributes to other key activities of the ODT project and Acute and Ambulatory Care Information Services branch, as required.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in health information science, information systems, statistics, computer programming, health sciences, health research or related field.
- Experience with data manipulation and statistical software, is essential. Experience with Python is preferred.
One to three (1 to 3) years of experience working with relational databases, including maintenance, troubleshooting, manipulation and analysis.
- Technical knowledge of system development and maintenance is an asset.
- Strong conceptual, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proven effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, work independently and self-learn.
- Fluency in English required, bilingualism an asset.
