Clinical Organ and Tissue Donation Specialist

Ontario Health is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Organ and Tissue Donation Specialist to join our team in the Kingston and surrounding region. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the donation process, working closely with healthcare providers and families to facilitate the donation of lifesaving organs and tissues.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct clinical assessments and evaluations of potential donors
- Establish collaborative approach plans with healthcare providers to enable every potential donor's family the opportunity to donate lifesaving organs and tissues
- Facilitate ongoing communication with the healthcare team as required and provide regular updates on the donation process as desired by the donor family
- Support the healthcare team by requesting resources for tests or procedures required to determine medical suitability as requested by the transplant team
- Recover past medical history from multiple sources, Health Records, Family Doctor, previous admissions to other hospital sites as part of the extensive assessment for exceptional distribution release of organs for transplantation
- Negotiate OR resources to support the donor organ recovery surgery
- Identify issues for follow-up and quality control and adherence to Health Canada directives, ensuring the safety of the organ and tissue supply
- Work a variety of shifts, including on-call shifts with travel within the Kingston region and the surrounding area
- Perform other duties consistent with role profile, as required
- Nursing Diploma and/or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required
- Minimum three (3) years critical care and/or relevant organ and tissue donation experience an asset or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
- Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
