**Background**

ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Our core programs include housing and outreach programs, food security programs, newcomer services, youth outreach and therapy programs, child and family programs, early years’ programs, computer access programs, and community engagement.

**Summary of Job Functions**

This project is part of an Initiative to help individuals and households exiting homelessness and/or at imminent risk of eviction to stabilize in safe, permanent housing and maintain financial independence in the community. The Voluntary Trustee will provide direct case management supports to 20 individuals referred by the City of Toronto through the Coordinated Access Program. This role will work within a housing-first, client-centered and harm reduction approach, working collaboratively with other service providers in client’s circle of care to identify and achieve clients’ self-determined goals. The Voluntary Trustee will assist clients to create plans that will help prevent future eviction and homelessness through housing assessment, stabilization, goal planning, and linkages to community services.

**Duties include**:

- Conduct intake and assessment interviews with clients referred through Coordinated Access
- Work with clients to identify and achieve self-directed goals
- Provide clients with financial-based case management including but not limited to budgeting, housing retention supports and financial literacy counselling
- Monitor housing issues (rent payment, health and safety, housing standards), and liaise with landlords as required
- Provide Voluntary Trusteeship and financial literacy through one-on-one counseling and case management for program participants which may include appropriate benefits entitlements from Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, CPP, and other income programs
- Work collaboratively with follow-up case managers to ensure clients are connected to appropriate resources in the community
- Develop program materials, accounting practices and financial tools in collaboration with Program Manager and Finance staff
- Provide advocacy and mediation for housing retention at Landlord and Tenant Board hearings
- Support client engagement initiatives within the agency including the volunteer program
- Intervene and de-escalate crisis situations
- Participate in active team case management meetings
- Maintain accurate case management records
- Complete reporting as required by funders and Agency
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality care and service based on ACSA’s mission and values

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Services or combined equivalent of education and experience
- Background in Accounting, Business or Finance would be an asset
- Experience with preparing basic accounting entries including recording of cheques, deposits and reconciling bank accounts
- Experience preparing budgets and managing individual’s finances
- Experience supporting individuals who have experienced homelessness and/or mental health and addictions
- Proficient with MS office
- Familiarity with Pirouette would be an asset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Skilled in assessment, crisis intervention and prevention, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- A valid Ontario class “G” Driver’s License and a vehicle is required for this position
