**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Durham College (DC) acknowledges and honours the importance of Indigenous ways of learning and knowing in education. The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is seeking to enhance supports available for the DC educational community by expanding our team to welcome an Indigenous Learning Specialist. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Teaching, Learning and Program Quality, the incumbent will provide specialized support to faculty, program teams and academic Faculties in integrating Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing into curricula and teaching and assessment practices. Additionally, the incumbent will provide consultation for program review and new program development, to support program teams in ensuring the Indigenous voice is meaningfully captured in curriculum.
- Support the enhancement of knowledge of Indigenous history, perspectives, methodologies, and cultural and pedagogical practices within the teaching and learning community;
- Provide guidance in the alignment of Indigenous content and pedagogical practices;
- Liaise with and serve as a resource to faculty, and Executive and Associate Deans to identify needs and, where appropriate, collaborate to meet those needs;
- Initiate and/or support the development and design of Indigenous-focused courses;
- Develop and deliver professional development activities for faculty, staff and administrators;
- Develop learning resources to support faculty in integrating Indigenous ways of learning and knowing into their instructional and assessment strategies;
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to consult on program and curriculum development and, where appropriate, related quality assurance processes;
- Support the development and renewal of course outlines, including advising on meaningful inclusion of Indigeneity;
- Contribute to the engagement with Elders, Knowledge Holders, Indigenous and non-Indigenous faculty and scholars, staff, students, and Indigenous communities and organizations;
- Engage in collaborative and/or independent applied research on teaching and learning;
- Serve as a member of curriculum and program committees, where appropriate, to support the integration of Indigenous knowledge within the curriculum; and act as a collaborative partner on campus, provincial, national and international initiatives.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Lived experience as a First Nations, Inuit and Métis person, and experience working with Indigenous Peoples, communities, and/or organizations.
- A minimum of a four-year degree in Higher or Adult Education, with a specialization in Indigenous Education or Indigenous Studies preferred; an equivalent combination of academic preparation and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience working with Indigenous educational programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and experience with educational program planning, facilitation, and consultation is preferred; knowledge in curriculum development and faculty development is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programming with proven vision and initiative grounded in Indigenous epistemologies.
