**About NAABA**
The Northeastern Aboriginal Business Association (NAABA) is a not-for-profit corporation, serving the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region for more than 29 years. We are a membership-based organization, with 122 Full Indigenous Businesses and 132 Associate member businesses, spanning various sectors including natural resource development, industrial service provision, wellbeing, and holistic health. NAABA is the voice of Indigenous Business in the region, and we strive to create a community of Indigenous strength, unity, and opportunity. We want to be a catalyst for growth across our community, and we work to ensure the economic playing field is levelled for Indigenous entrepreneurs, so they can succeed and thrive in today’s economy. NAABA brings business members together as a community to facilitate the success of all members.
**About the Opportunity**
In 2019, the Canadian Indigenous economy generated $6.74 Billion in GDP. This accounted for 2% of Alberta’s total GDP, with a significant portion of that amount generated in the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region.
**About the Shared Services Pilot Program**
The Shared Services Pilot Program is a custom-designed business support services program for NAABA Certified Full Member businesses. It is the first of its kind in the region for Indigenous businesses and will provide clients with access to professional services in human resources, finance, and marketing and communications. Professional services included in the program were identified by NAABA Full Indigenous members from all sectors. Service subscribers utilize this program to access professional expertise (advice and tactical support) which they do not have in-house, or to complement their internal staff expertise, or to add additional capacity for special projects. The program was designed as a vital tool to enhance business capability and stimulate expansion of local Indigenous businesses. The pilot portion of this program is funded by PrairiesCan, the Government of Alberta, and Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development and Tourism.
