St. Albert Public Schools is a publicly funded jurisdiction that serves approximately 9,200 students in 16 schools. The division employs more the 900 people and it is one of the largest employers in the City of St. Albert.

This position will be responsible for performing punctual and accurate processing of accounting functions, the division charity return, GST returns, purchasing card system, school revenue systems and maintenance of financial and historical records in accordance with government and board regulations.

The Finance Assistant contributes to educational efficiency by providing advice in the monitoring and interpretation within the finance department to meet the division’s financial needs, including leadership/supervision to schools and departments in financial accounting processes, procedures in accordance with the respective collective agreements and contracts, legislation and Board policies.

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Financial Services and the Finance Supervisor, this role contributes to the assurance that financial reporting and processes are timely, accurate and in accordance with GAAP, PSAS and relevant legislation and all supporting documents as required.
