**POSITION PURPOSE**

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Leads in the planning, development and implementation of York Regional Police’s Business Continuity Program and the development of strategies and capability to effectively respond and recover in an orderly manner to planned and unplanned interruptions that disrupt critical functions for York Regional Police.
- Coordinates the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) review in collaboration with York Regional Police and stakeholders; determines gaps and provides recommendations on prioritization of business plan actions; develops BCP strategies and work plans to support strategy development.
- Develops work plans and project assignments in the development of the York Regional Police and Business Continuity Plans, committee work, etc.
- Coordinates planning activities with cross-department participants to ensure the York Regional Police Business Continuity Program is inclusive of other Departments and/or Unit business continuity programs to ensure that critical services are maintained.
- Participates in planning and formulation of strategic initiatives for service improvements; creates a program that embeds business continuity into York Regional Police’s culture.
- Builds relationships across YRP to foster a collaborative team approach to business continuity planning.
- Ensures adherence to the Region’s and YRP policies, guidelines and bylaws.
- Monitors and evaluates service delivery and develops effective and innovative program delivery methodologies to meet mandates, relevant legislation and service requirements.
- Liaises with and proactively develops relationships with stakeholders including government/non-governmental agencies and the public, to facilitate the delivery of services.
- Educates YRP representatives on business continuity concepts and builds consensus on the business continuity approach through active collaboration on projects and activities.
- Participates on or chairs committees, meetings, task forces, work groups and special projects, as directed.
- Provides input to or prepares reports, briefing notes, presentations, statistics and analysis, for Executive Command Team, as requested.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Emergency Management, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Accredited as a Business Continuity Professional or approved equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years demonstrated experience in Business Continuity development and implementation, including demonstrated project management or leadership/supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts and Regulations.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer services, communication, teamwork, initiative/self management, accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
- Management competencies including results/achievement focus, human resources management, leadership, financial management, business planning, decision making/judgement, representation and professionalism and job knowledge.
- Strong report writing, research, analytical and project management skills to meet program objectives and work to tight deadlines.
- Satisfactory Police criminal background check in addition to a Police Security Clearance Check.
