**Job Summary**
The Business & Quality Specialist will be responsible for collecting, submitting, and analyzing data related to clinical activity in the Department of Cardiac Health. Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing data entry, collation, analysis, and reporting as it relates to the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP), or applicable equivalent database(s) depending on department requirements going forward.
2. Supporting the Provincial Priority Services (PPS) program through the reconciliation of multiple sources of procedural data to ensure data integrity and completeness.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum 2 year health care diploma; degree in relevant field preferred
- Member of regulated clinical profession in Good Standing is an asset;
- Certification through the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) is an asset;
- A minimum of 3 year of experience in a health information, Hospital, or acute perioperative environment is preferred;
- Previous experience with quality improvement/patient safety initiatives with an understanding of current best practice;
- Previous experience with chart review and abstraction experience is required in addition to strong familiarity with MediTech or equivalent Electronic Medical Records (EMR);
- Data entry skills and verifiable proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access is required;
- Strong communication and organizational skills with strong time management while working within defined deadlines;
- Ability to work with all levels within the hospital, from staff to patients and families, to build relationships, gain clinical support and ensure the success of this program;
- Strong understanding of descriptive statistics is required and an understanding of inferential statistics is an asset;
- Exceptional confidentiality and privacy while dealing with patient information;
- Demonstrated history of good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards;
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal;
- Demonstrated problem assessment skills;
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork;
- Demonstrated individual leadership skills.
