The Research, Innovation and Policy Division provides research, policy and legislation support to the ministry, enabling the successful delivery of services to improve the lives of British Columbians. The division leads the government on the Poverty Reduction Strategy, and aids in poverty reduction initiatives across government.

Reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Policy, the policy analyst manages assigned policy development projects focused on the review and recommended revisions of existing ministry programs or legislation, conducts research and provides ongoing policy analysis and advice to senior staff. The policy analyst will support the development and implementation of strategies, policies, programs and initiatives related to the ministry’s mandate, the Draft Principles that Guide the Province of British Columbia’s Relationship with Indigenous Peoples, the government’s commitment to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UN Declaration), the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (Declaration Act) and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action (TRC).

**Job Requirements**:
Education and Experience:

- A degree in public administration, Indigenous studies, business administration, law, economics, health, social sciences, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 1-year related work experience in each of the following:

- Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis;
- Experience providing advice and recommendations on policy, program or operational issues;
- Experience concisely and persuasively writing an array of documents and content; AND
- Experience planning and managing initiatives, projects, or project components.

Preference may be given to applicants with any the following:

- 3 or more years of related work experience as listed above.
- Experience and expertise working in areas related to the ministry’s mandate, such as income assistance, disability assistance and poverty reduction.
- Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations or partners.
