Associate, Profitability and Analytics
**What is the opportunity?**
The Associate, Profitability and Analytics will establish, track and report business metrics across profitability, opportunity, risk and supervisory. In this role, will create client and market insights driven by profitability metrics to inform future path using a data and commercially led approach to establish profitability benchmarks and hurdle rates by product, service bundles and clients as the team shifts additional focus and resources to analytics to support Executive Management directives.
**What will you do?**
- Responsible for profitability evaluation, execution, and analysis on products and clients as well as other analysis across multiple client segments and categories
- Consume and integrate multiple data points into simple and clear data driven insights
- Lead data and market driven analytics to support profit decisions, develops recommendations for profit improvement, and provides support for the execution
- Partner across the organization to proactively identify areas of profit opportunity for new & existing products
- Develop a thorough understanding of profitability models, identify enhancements needed and support partners in implementation
- Provide analysis of profitability impact on actions implemented across products and clients
- Support the Pricing team on repricing/new pricing requests
- Collaborate with product leads and Pricing team in developing and refining standard rate schedules
- Responsible for enforcing best-in-class profitability processes including data consistency and presentment.
- Partner with Product, Business Development, and Client Success groups to collaboratively design profit strategies & market plans to then track and translate into financial results
- Proactive identification of new revenue and profit expansion opportunities by the use of analytics and develop and lead look back analysis on recent client deals with input from various Stakeholder (Client Success, Product, Pricing, Business Development)
- Elevate and increase the visibility of profitability and ensure key participants in the Client Success, Product and Business Development have profitability considerations top of mind.
- Continually emphasis to key stakeholders about the importance of using business case financials as a tool to aid in the decision making process for new and existing business. Provide innovation of commercial models that can be applied according to different situations
- Owner of the group’s policies and procedures library. Group representative on RBC’s PPL Governance Committee to ensure group adheres to RBC’s current policy and procedures rules and adapts any changes in the near future
**What do you need to succeed?**
**Must-have**
- University or post-graduate degree in Business, Economics or Finance.
- High level of numeracy and experience in financial analysis (Proven quality control skills to ensure Data Accuracy and strong business modeling and financial analytics skills)
- Demonstrated ability to understand key drivers of financial performance and magnitude of impact
- Proven self-starter with ability to identify and act on opportunities to drive change leading to better financial outcomes
- Strong organizational skills, independent prioritization
- Ability to anticipate partner needs and make decisions in the face of ambiguity
- Proficient in the MS Office suite of products with expertise in Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with particular emphasis on the ability to translate between technical and business terminology, and to formulate clear actionable insights
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good working relationships within and across business units at all levels of seniority
- Exceptional sense of urgency, and attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable liaising with senior management and executives
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
**Nice-to-have**
- Prior experience in the securities industry and/or in RBC I&TS in related functions
- Exposure to RBC I&TS core products/systems
- CFA, MBA or other professional accounting/finance designation
