Ottawa Flat Roofing Services is looking to expand our team. We are a busy roofing company located in Ottawa, ON servicing Ottawa and surrounding areas.

Experience working on a construction site is necessary.

Previous experience in commercial/industrial flat roofing a must

Must be comfortable climbing ladders and be comfortable working at heights.

**Summary**: We work Monday-Friday from 7AM-5PM year-round in extreme cold and extreme heat (not in exceptional circumstances). As such you should be willing to work flexible hours at different construction locations. We will only consider applicants with a minimum of 2 years experience in commercial or residential roofing or an exceptional reference. We require a valid drivers licence, reliable transportation, WHIMIS/Work place safety certification, and working at heights certification. You will be expected to hoist, lift, and/or rig upwards of 50lbs of equipment and material. You should be comfortable working of heights, climbing ladders, and working with power tools. Pay $25-$38/hour depending on experience

**What you need to know before you apply**

As a roofer you will work outdoors all day. The work environment will vary from cold to heat and we will work through it (excluding exceptional cases). Roofing is physically demanding work and requires considerable effort in lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling and balancing on high, sloped and sometimes slippery surfaces.
- You will use hand tools, power tools, hot-air welding, hot process equipment, motorized, induction, and fuelled equipment. Use of access, hoisting, lifting and rigging equipment is extremely common.

Previous experience in commercial/industrial flat roofing -Intermediate English skills -Ability to learn and follow our extensive safety policy

Job Details
- Full-time, year-round
- Mon-Fri, 7:00am-5:00pm
- Pay $25-$38/hour depending on experience
- MINIMUM 2 years experience as a roofer
- Overtime available but not required
- Work sites are in Ottawa and surrounding regions.
- 1 Hour break daily

Licence/Certifications REQUIRED
- Valid WHMIS / workplace-safety hazards
- Valid Working at Heights certificates
- Valid Drivers License (and reliable transportation)

- Knowledge and experience of torching
- Safety Protocols - Understanding of safety requirements and procedures for roofing work
- Availability to work flexible hours and travel to different job sites
- Knowledge of roofing systems and related local ordinances
- Roofing Installation, weatherproofing, waterproofing, and inspection (Knowledge of common defects and safety hazards related to flat roofs) experience and knowledge.
- Problem Solving Skills - Ability to identify and address problems related to roofing installation

Job duties
- Execute roofing installations according to specifications and project requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints for accurate installation
- Perform caulking and sealing to ensure proper waterproofing
- Conduct quality inspections to guarantee work meets industry standards
- Assist in loading/unloading roofing materials as needed
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines throughout all roofing projects
- All tasks must be performed according to the applicable jurisdictional regulations, codes and standards.
- All health and safety standards must be respected and observed.
- Work should be done efficiently and to a high quality without material waste or environmental damage.
- install, replace, maintain and repair shingles, slates, shakes, roofing tiles, sheet metal and other pre-formed sheeting on sloped and flat roofs.
- install roofing accessories such as sheet metal flashings, roof vent flashings, anchor tie-off flashings, drain inserts and clamps.
- weatherproof, waterproof and damp-proof roofing surfaces, foundation walls, floor slabs and bridge decks.
- set up scaffolding to provide safe access to the work area and install fall protection systems.
- Install, repair or replace single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
- Prepare material disposal systems

- Assesses worksite conditions
- Safely and efficiently positions equipment and material on the ground and on the roof.
