**REQUIREMENTS - A SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST**:

- HAVE A PERSONAL VEHICLE and valid drivers license
- Be willing to commute in ottawa and to its surrounding areas
- Be eager to learn and want to advance in the company
- Be able to climb ladders and access hard-to-reach areas
- Be comfortable working at heights
- **Be at work on time and always show up. We do not tolerate tardiness, unexcused absences, or frequent absences.**:

- Ability to lift objects in excess of 100lbs.
- Able to carry heavy objects and materials while climbing up and down a ladder.
- We will teach you everything you need to know but you must be willing and eager to learn.
- Be able to follow instructions and guidelines. and learn from mistakes.

- Work hours are 7-5 for now

**Merit Based Pay Increase and Promotions**

While the starting wage for a new employee with no prior roofing experience begins at $20, Ottawa Flat Roofing Services has adopted a pay for performance program as part of the overall compensation program. **Merit pay is one of the methods Ottawa Flat Roofing Services uses to reward high-quality job performance. Merit increases are awarded based on employee job performance both in terms of quality of work and efficiency of work. **There is no limit on merit pay increase amounts.

Completing these duties as an entry-level employee helps you learn on the job as you shadow other professionals. **If you use these opportunities to develop your roofing skills, you can quickly move up the ladder** and become a roofer, torcher, supervisor, manager, project manager, etc. We give merit based wage increases and promotions. It is not based on seniority or experience. We base it on your performance and reliability.

**Duties**
- You will assist other senior professionals when working on a roofing project. This can involve tasks such as
- Loading/unloading and carrying tools to and from the equipment vehicle to the work site.
- Use ladders to take roofing materials up buildings while other professionals complete the installation.
- To ensure a seamless workflow, you may also ensure inventory supply by restocking roofing materials, such as cement and tiles.
- clearing old building materials and scaffolding, cutting tiles and timber, mixing mortar, and stripping old roofs.
- Shoveling snow off roofs
- Perform heavy lifting and climbing as required
- Repair, replace, and remove broken materials and debris
- Accurately log your billable hours using a time tracking app

Other duties can include but are not limited to:

- you might set up warning lines and barricades or remove gutters, hazards, and adjacent construction. You may provide these services on a regular basis or once-off.
- Install, repair, and replace roofs using materials such as shingles, tiles, metal, gravel, asphalt, and shakes
- Measure and cut materials to ensure a proper fit
- Install scaffolding, ladders, and roof hoist equipment as needed for roof access
- Install waterproof coating, vapor barriers, insulation, vents, and solar energy panels

**Skills**

- This is a team and you must work as part of a team. That means showing up.
- Physical requirements (e.g., mobility, weight lifting ability, comfortable at heights)
- Previous experience as a maintenance person or in the trades is a plus but is not required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s record
- **Able to work full-time year round**

Ability to follow safety protocols
- This may involve wearing safety gear, such as goggles and helmets, using specialized equipment, and following safety manuals when handling equipment.

Ability to follow instructions
- While you don't need to have experience in roofing you do need to be able to follow instructions given to you by senior employees and trainers during your time with us. We will not force you to do nor are you required to do anything that is outside your comfort level.
