**Ottawa Flat Roofing Services **is looking for a roofing labourer who would like to start a career in roofing to help our roofing team deliver the highest-quality roofs In ottawa, and learn from the best most reliable roofer in the area. The only license or certification you need is a drivers license and your own car.

As a roofing labourer and roofing trainee on our team you will learn and develop all the skills you need to succeed in the trade. We will provide all the necessary training, impart necessary information, and knowledge, and provide you will all the tools you need for repairing, maintaining, and installing roofs on residential and commercial buildings.

**REQUIREMENTS - A SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST**:

- HAVE A PERSONAL VEHICLE and valid drivers license
- Be willing to commute in ottawa and to its surrounding areas
- Be eager to learn and want to advance in the company
- Be able to climb ladders and access hard-to-reach areas
- Be comfortable working at heights
- **Be at work on time and always show up. We do not tolerate tardiness, unexcused absences, or frequent absences.**:

- Ability to lift objects in excess of 100lbs.
- Able to carry heavy objects and materials while climbing up and down a ladder.
- We will teach you everything you need to know but you must be willing and eager to learn.
- Be able to follow instructions and guidelines. and learn from mistakes.

- Work hours are 7-5 for now

**Merit Based Pay Increase and Promotions**

While the starting wage for a new employee with no prior roofing experience begins at $20, Ottawa Flat Roofing Services has adopted a pay for performance program as part of the overall compensation program. **Merit pay is one of the methods Ottawa Flat Roofing Services uses to reward high-quality job performance. Merit increases are awarded based on employee job performance both in terms of quality of work and efficiency of work. **There is no limit on merit pay increase amounts.

Completing these duties as an entry-level employee helps you learn on the job as you shadow other professionals. **If you use these opportunities to develop your roofing skills, you can quickly move up the ladder** and become a roofer, torcher, supervisor, manager, project manager, etc. We give merit based wage increases and promotions. It is not based on seniority or experience. We base it on your performance and reliability.

**Work Environment**
- Working in intense weather (heat and sub-zero), tolerate moderate levels of noise and encounter wildlife
- Performing essential roofing job activities: heavy lifting (50 lbs), twisting, bending, use of both hands and arms, kneeling, squatting, standing and/or walking for long periods and climbing ladders and/or scaffolding - the materials undergo a temperature range greater than that required to turn ice into steam
- Climbing and descending ladders while carrying material sometimes over 100lbs

This is all required to make appropriate installation decisions and to identify, solve and prevent problems.

- Work days can last longer than 10 hours

**Duties**
- You will assist other senior professionals when working on a roofing project. This can involve tasks such as
- Laying out materials, smoothing surfaces, and installing various roofing systems.
- Follow safety guidelines and utilize equipment like hoists, hand tools, and nail guns.
- May work with specific materials like BUR, PVC, and EPDM, as well as perform tasks such as spreading gravel and using torches.
- Loading/unloading and carrying tools to and from the equipment vehicle to the work site.
- Use ladders to take roofing materials up buildings while other professionals complete the installation.
- To ensure a seamless workflow, you may also ensure inventory supply by restocking roofing materials, such as cement and tiles.
- clearing old building materials and scaffolding, cutting tiles and timber, mixing mortar, and stripping old roofs.
- Shoveling snow off roofs
- Perform heavy lifting and climbing as required
- Repair, replace, and remove broken materials and debris
- Accurately log your bil
