**Role Responsibilities**:
The Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade (JET) has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Trade Advisor

The Trade Advisor, will take a lead role in developing strategic briefings and analysis on inter-governmental related issues and will be called upon to provide leadership to Trade Analysts for various assignments. The Trade Advisor brings expertise in the area of international trade, and uses their understanding of the complex intergovernmental and international policy environment to support JET initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, the Trade Advisor will support senior level research, analysis, coordination and planning for a variety intergovernmental trade initiatives.

**In your role as a Trade Advisor, you will**:

- Lead the research, analysis and preparation of briefings, reports, and presentations on topics to support Alberta intergovernmental relations related to trade.
- Leverage a strong understanding of federal, provincial and territorial trade priorities, and propose recommendations to advance Alberta trade priorities through collaboration with other jurisdictions.
- Identify opportunities and challenges for Alberta's trade competitiveness based on current events, inter-provincial activities, and foreign relations awareness.
- Monitor and lead the research and analysis of foreign government trade and related economic strategy/policy materials in support of Ministry initiatives.
- Have a strong understanding of economic and/or trade strategies developed in key international markets and lead the assessment of their implications on Alberta exports.
- Working with the Trade Data Assessment team to identify ways to incorporate sector specific data views and analysis into briefings, presentations, and other materials for divisional or senior leadership use.
- Attend relevant meetings of cross government officials to develop a greater understanding of intergovernmental issues, dependencies, and activities across government.
- Provide support to cross government partners on an ad hoc basis regarding strategic initiatives, which can further support Alberta's trade positions.
- Manage and build relationships across government and with external parties working towards export promotion for Alberta companies.
