Provide Edmonton Fire Rescue Services with top level technical support in a mission critical environment_**

Public safety technologies are crucial in supporting all sections of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) in providing services to the public. The Emergency Systems Technology Specialist provides first level support to the Public Safety radio and telecommunications systems as well as other technologies that are used within the Fire Rescue Services Branch of the Citizen Services Department.
- Deliver services related to radio equipment (i.e. portables, mobiles and DVRS) as well as mobile data terminals (MDT) used in Fire vehicles
- Services are to be delivered within established timelines in order to maintain an optimum performance level of equipment all the times
- Maintain and troubleshoot emergency vehicle intersection preemption equipment
- Regular communication with user groups as well as supervisors to update on state of projects
- Test and perform technical review of new and existing telecommunication equipment and if required develop specifications and report
- Initiate actions to ensure the integrity of the systems are maintained
- Provide consultation on effective use of standard radio and telecommunication systems
- Maintain accurate equipment inventory and documentation within the Technical Services portfolio
- Maintain current knowledge of Public Safety technologies and trends

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by a 2 year Diploma in Engineering Technology, Telecommunication Technology or a related discipline (education must be from a recognized institution)
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience in the Telecommunication field
- Knowledge of LMR radio systems, end user equipment and related technologies
- Ability to quickly resolve system problems to meet service delivery requirements
- Good physical condition and the ability to perform work in confined spaces or high spaces and lifting up to 30 pounds
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions as well as the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work cohesively within a team, have a customer focused approach, multitask and resolve issues
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and problem solving skills required
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of
- Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance

**Hours of Work**: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance._
