**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Information Stewardship, Access and Privacy (ISAP), the Manager is responsible for management and coordination of all staff, activities and budget associated with the ISAP. The Manager oversees the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation and evolution of a comprehensive ISAP program to build information stewardship and privacy conscious practices that enhance the delivery of quality patient care and services within Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA). This is accomplished in alignment with access, privacy and information stewardship best practices, VIHA strategic priorities, evolving national, provincial and local Electronic Health Records (EHR) initiatives and conformance standards, policy and legislation, including but not limited to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the eHealth Act.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Health Information Science, Information Management, Health Administration or related field with evidence of continuing professional development in the area of information privacy and information management. At least five (5) years' progressive experience in health care with a minimum of two (2) years at a strategic privacy leadership level.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Solid understanding of information access, privacy, governance and e-Health practices and trends, information security standards and controls, related legislation and requirements and EHR information systems.
- Effective people leadership, management, coaching and mentorship skills.
- Effective verbal, written and communication and presentation skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders while exercising maturity, tact, confidentiality and discretion.
- Experience in planning, directing and controlling projects.
- Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, including working under pressure, adapting and responding to changing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated superior organizational, time management, listening and recording skills.
- Ability and experience in the development, maintenance and use of databases, websites and communication tools such as Share Point.
- Ability to manage a budget.
