Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Programs, the Pharmacy Coordinator, Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) is responsible and accountable for overseeing the development, implementation, coordination and overall effectiveness of AMS standards, best practices, policies and procedures ensuring consistency across designated Island Health locations.

Provides AMS leadership and champions improvement methodologies; coordinates AMS education and promotes a culture that perceives AMS as a priority. Maintains reviews of antimicrobial prescribing practices; analyzes clinical processes and develops strategies to maximize AMS. Oversees a variety of quality improvement strategies, participates in change management activities to achieve optimal AMS performance.

Selects and supervises staff; provides work direction and delegates work to assigned staff; conducts performance appraisals; optimizes utilization of staff and other resources through monitoring of workload, workflow and performance efficiency. Ensures that staff orientation and training objectives are attained. Participates in developing orientation programs for new staff, monitors quality assurance and performs workload measurement of tasks in assigned area.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience
Current registration as a Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. Completion of an accredited Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program and four (4) years' recent, related clinical experience in a complex acute care setting including a minimum of one (1) year's education and/or leadership experience related to antimicrobial stewardship or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Clinical knowledge and ability in the care of patients within area of specialty.

Proficiency and accomplishments in the delivery of Pharmaceutical Care.

Broad knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and standards of care.

Thorough knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in health care.

Knowledge of drug distribution processes in a hospital or health care related setting.

Knowledge of research processes and methodology.

Knowledge of hospital and pharmacy information systems.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to make presentations.

Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other health practitioners.

Ability to lead, plan, implement, problem solve and manage projects.

Ability to effectively lead, and coordinate project teams within clinical programs across multiple sites.

Ability to supervise, teach and motivate others.

Ability to facilitate learning and create effective learning environments.

Ability to conceptualize education from a unit to a regional focus.

Ability to implement education based on changing practices.

Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Conflict management skills.

Valid BC Driver's License.
