**Position Summary**:
Reporting to and under the general direction of the Manager, Student Life, the Coordinator develops, implements, and delivers college wide Student Life engagement initiatives and volunteer opportunities for students that promote skill and personal development. Rooted in student development theory and unique characteristics and demographics of the George Brown community, these programs will aim to develop the “whole” student while assisting in their personal identity and skill development throughout their college experience. This position is responsible for enhancing the quality of out of the classroom learning and contributing to an exceptional student experience at George Brown College.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the design and implementation of engagement initiatives at all campuses such as coordinating the planning, promotion and delivery of meaningful weekly/monthly engagement activities and special events including cultural celebrations and health promotion initiatives.
- Delivers a thriving student space and environment which acts as the hub for daily student engagement on campus.
- Implements and oversees the operation of special projects (e.g. Take Your Kid to Work Day).
- Responsible for the design and implementation of a volunteer program that allows students to meaningfully practice skills sought after by employers (complimenting the skills taught in the students’ respective program), be meaningfully engaged in the community (the college community, outside college community and global community), gain real experience and learn to articulate the learning.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of a Social Media platform that allows students to meaningfully learn about events, engagements, volunteer opportunities, social nights, and workshops.
- Produces content for social media on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Develops and delivers new programming that might be useful to students (i.e. Toronto Tuesdays, Tik-Tok Thursdays, Chit-Chat Fridays).
- Identifies and promotes on-and-off campus events with other George Brown College affiliated accounts.
- Responsible for administrative duties within Student Life and volunteer programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Educational and Experience Requirements**:

- Three-year diploma/degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Education, Community Services, Event Planning, Volunteer Coordination, Leadership Development.
- Courses in Student Affairs, Student Development Theory, Graphic Design, and Communications are an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience including demonstrated ability and proven success within the field of student services at a post-secondary institution for a minimum of three years.
- Direct experience in Student Life and volunteer programs (design, implementation and evaluation).
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating student programs and training modules is an asset.
- Experience developing marketing campaigns that involve the use of new media and social media critical.
- Experience in establishing strong and collaborative partnerships and working with students and student groups from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience coordinating and directly supervising student staff, volunteers and placement students.

**Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in event planning.
- Solid public speaking and presentation skills required.
- Must demonstrate excellent problem solving, conflict resolution, and team building skills.
- Ability to lift between 5 to 20 kg or 11 to 44 lbs (i.e., boxes of orientation material, booklets, etc.).
- Ability to travel between campuses and support student staff at all campuses on a weekly basis.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
