Community Integration Advocate (Adult Protective Service Worker)

Full-time/Contract - Up to 1 Year (with the possibility of extension)

This position is part of the Community Integration and Advocacy Team

The Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing is a fully accredited, non-profit organization providing professional counselling services and community programs to individuals, couples, and families. Position

Reporting to the Manager of Developmental Services, the Community Integration Advocate will provide advocacy, case management & support services to adults with a developmental disability who are living in the community. Availability to work one evening per week as needed.

Qualifications:

- BA/BSW in the social sciences, or relevant college diploma with proven ability to advocate on behalf of people who are at various stages of cognitive ability.
- Demonstrated skills supporting persons and/or their family members who are challenged by a developmental disability.
- Sound knowledge of the developmental services sector, including person-directed planning, ability to demonstrate principles of anti-oppression, inclusion and advocacy within the arenas of justice, education, housing, and health are imperative qualifications.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and organisational skills related to administrative and documentation duties.
- Demonstrated collaboration with team and external service providers.
- The use of a vehicle and a valid driver’s license in the province of Ontario.

**Salary**: As per the collective agreement, BA/BSW or diploma salary grid
