**PRODUCT SAFETY MANAGER**

The Product Safety Manager will work within our Logistics/Operations and Sales teams to manage product safety elements for Made by Gather. This person will be an internal central point of contact for legal, operations and engineering teams. This person will also work with third party stakeholders, including government agencies, compliance entities, and our legal partners as needed to action necessary activities. The Product Safety Manager will be an important member of our team who will collaborate with team members across the organization in very department.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- ** Consumer Claims Management**:

- Responsible for product, product liability insurance
- Manage all received claims through mail, insurance carriers, lawsuits, etc. and track status for each claim; making recommendations for next steps and completion.
- Organize claims and categorize appropriately: customer service, injury, and escalate accordingly to correct department, property damage, product liability.
- Track, maintain, and log all communications accordingly based on claim/communication, pulling in appropriate stakeholders when necessary
- ** Customer Claims Management/Audit**:Customer Audits**:

- Manage all audits from retailers & legal/engineering review list of incidents & claims to determine how it’s going to be handled - is it legal, is it insurance claim, is it engineering.
- Liaise with Customer Service and Engineering departments to develop escalation programs for product Safety related issues and concerns.
- Collaborate with Legal Department on outstanding projects, claims, audits, etc.
- Identify patterns in communications/claims/complaints to determine if there is a larger issue that needs to be resolved with product via Engineering, Compliance, and Legal
- Help develop Product Safety programs and reviews company policies and advise on any policy changes that may need to be modified or created.
- ** Product Stewardship Program**:

- Help manage products from development stage to production phase to make sure required protocols, markers, etc. are in place from innovation/ideation to production and sales to end customer.
- Help Engineering and Product departments implement Product Stewardship Program to help track liability that has been identified by current & future product(s) in order to mitigate liability (Engineering Change Request Process), and document any changes
- Stay up to date on local/state/federal regulations regarding: PFAS, AB1200 to ensure compliance within innovation/ideation, product development, manufacturing & production, and labeling/packaging for end consumer; stay up-to-date in regional/international changes on regulations and government regulations and be able to make recommendations accordingly
- Collaborate with engineering, product, legal to start to craft standard operating procedures, documentation & records, and subsequent actions taken.
- Monitor, track, and manage progress of all open considerations for any local/federal/regional/international regulations.
- Must be SME on product & industry regulations, considerations, resources, and databases.
- Help monitor metrics on product safety** **tracking changes from industry best practices, forums, articles, etc. (Engineering will communicate any changes in regulations)
- Validate the changes and effective dates and help support the requirement investigations & make recommendations for legal guidelines
- Stay up-to-date on CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) and the Canadian CPSC, liaising with government agencies related to Product Safety or Legal claims (exclude Product Certifications such CSA, UL, ETL, CE)
- Act as company representative as SME during any investigations, trial, litigation, etc. with any agencies or regulatory bodies

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 4+ years experience in product safety compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft office (particularly with Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a proven track record multi-tasking in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Pro-active self-starter, disciplined, solution-oriented with a strong attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree or secondary degree a plus
- Bilingual (Proficient in French & English) is a plus
