**Position**: Development Officer

**Location**: Anselma House in Kitchener and Haven House in Cambridge *Primarily working in-office

**Status**: Full Time

**Starting Salary**: $65,565

So, how do we define a **Development Officer**? Reporting to the Director of Communications and Corporate Initiatives, the Development Officer is a highly effective professional fundraiser who is skilled at relationship building. The Development Officer will oversee and execute our annual and leadership giving programs. They will ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain the donor's involvement, interest and support.

As the Development Team Lead, the Development Officer will oversee one direct report, the Stewardship Coordinator. Stewardship is an important part of the department, and you will have the responsibility of overseeing donor stewardship opportunities such as managing the fall card program, as well as planning and executing a new donor stewardship event.

The main buckets of work will include;
- Collaborating with the Director to develop a comprehensive annual development plan encompassing various essential elements, such as leadership giving, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, planned giving, and events fundraising.
- Leading annual direct mail campaigns, including project coordination, writing, design and production, and review of results.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with individual, foundation and corporate prospects and donors including arranging and participating in in-person and virtual visits, arranging visits to shelter, special events, announcements, etc.
- An Undergraduate degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive fundraising experience in securing major gifts and volunteer recruitment and management and experience with the full scope of development activities including discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship at the major gift level.
- Successful record of accomplishment of developing and implementing strategies for major gift solicitations with demonstrated success in personally securing and closing major gifts.
- Experience successfully managing multiple projects from conception to completion within tight prescribed deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in compiling cases for support.
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is considered an asset.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally with staff, management, volunteers, suppliers, community partners and external stakeholders.
- An understanding of digital/online engagement tools and platforms and the associated analytics with the ability to report and make recommendations using this data.
- Strong knowledge of women’s issues and the dynamics of violence against women and children utilizing an anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required.
- Travel required throughout Waterloo Region.
