**About Us**:
The Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction, including the development, implementation, monitoring, and compliance to policy, legislation and standards, for addiction and mental health services, as well as proactive monitoring of substance use and mental health data to support system planning. The Ministry works with service providers and community partners to design and enhance a coordinated community-based addiction and mental health care system, leveraging policy and practice innovations and research and evaluation to enable the best possible outcomes for Albertans. The Ministry works closely with other cross-ministry partners, external organizations, other Canadian provinces and the Government of Canada to plan addiction and mental health service delivery. The Ministry also liaises with the Office of the Alberta Health Advocates and Alberta Health Services.

**Role**:
The Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction has two temporary Policy Analyst positions available in the new and growing Ministry.

**Policy Analyst, Policy Implementation, (1 temporary position)**
The Policy Analyst supports coordinating the development and implementation of multiple projects including through internal, external, and cross-government engagement. The Analyst supports developing advice and recommendations to leadership, and provides project management support to coordinate, monitor and report on project progress.

**Policy Analyst, Legislation and Policy, (1 temporary position)**
The Policy Analyst supports the development and implementation of multiple legislative and policy projects related to the Mental Health Act, including providing operational support to the Mental Health Review Panel Roster through internal, external, and cross-government engagement. In addition, the Policy Analyst leads small and medium sized projects to improve information technology infrastructure and data analysis.

Both positions will also be responsible for:

- Managing a selection of grants, or contracts, to support innovation across the addiction and mental health system in Alberta (e.g., funding for specific projects or operations).
- Supporting implementation of provincial addiction and mental health priorities to positively affect the health of the population and targeted groups.
- Fostering sustainable, positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to support achievement of ministry priorities.
- Supporting branch managers and colleagues in achieving the mandate and goals of the branch and unit.
- Leading small to medium size projects, or sets of tasks within larger projects, often occurring simultaneously.
- Responding to requests for information and other deliverables from leadership.
- With guidance from the Manager, developing advice, recommendations, and reports for senior management to inform broader decision making.
- With guidance from the Manager, liaising and consulting with key stakeholders in Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, other government ministries, and other system stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
Completion of a baccalaureate degree in a related field (e.g. social sciences, public policy or health) and 2 years progressively responsible related experience.

The following experience is required:

- Collaborating with government and community stakeholders to achieve government priorities
- Research experience

**Legislation and Policy**
- In addition to the above, experience with data collection and analysis.

The following are assets for this position:

- Previous experience leading multi-stakeholder projects or projects in a complex organization
- Experience in any of the following: Project management, policy development, program design/development, or program monitoring
- Grant management experience, including reviewing financial reporting
- Experience working in the areas of child and youth services or the addiction and mental health field and/or good understanding of key issues in the field.
- Knowledge of the addiction and mental health system
- Action Request Tracking System (ARTS) processes, guidelines, templates and standards
