**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Contracts Lead, the Contracts Administrator works within Research & Innovation Advancement (RIA) team to provide effective and efficient service and support to IWK researchers in the development, negotiation and coordination of research contracts and related financial administration matters.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Contract Management
- responsible for processing a high volume of research contracts, including clinical trial agreements (CTAs), site agreements, multi-site agreements, collaboration agreements, material transfer agreements (MTAs), confidentiality agreements (CDAs), data transfer agreements (DTAs), funding agreements and other agreements as required;
- conduct detailed review of legal documents providing recommendations for institutional authorization;
- responsible for fielding questions and/or providing advice,
- conduct risk assessments and provides recommendations to the Lead concerning high risk agreements;
- assist Lead with the development of contracts and contract templates;
- interpret and identifies circumstances requiring consultation with Health Centre legal counsel;
- works independently and collaboratively within a busy client environment, while seeking and receiving support/direction from Lead;
- under the direction of the Lead, acts as institutional representative for the negotiation and management of research related contractual agreements;
Administration
- provide feedback to Lead regarding challenges or issues with the administration of contracts;
- assist Lead with policies and procedures related to contracts portfolio;
- complete all necessary reviews within a timely manner and ensure that contracts are in line with all IWK’s systems and procedures;
- ensures contract related information is accurately and timely maintained, e.g. RIA database.

Education
- provide advice and assistance to faculty members and other members of the administrative staff in relation to pre
- and post-award research contract administration;
- maintain a general sense and knowledge of industry activities in order to advise/consult on contract related issues.

**Hours of Work**:
Monday to Friday, 18.75 hours week

**Your Qualifications**:

- A degree from an accredited post‐secondary institution in Administration, Business or Paralegal
- Related certification, such as a Certificate in Research Administration or Research Management and/or a Clinical Research Contract Professional (CRCP) certification an asset.
- 5 years’ experience in a contracts administration position is required.
- Experience negotiating contracts and interpreting legal clauses and clarifying associated risks for clients.
- Effective negotiation skills;
- Confidence, flexibility, diplomacy and solid interpersonal skills to interact with diverse personality in high-paced work environment and manage competing priorities is a must.
- Must be thorough and detailed oriented with excellent time management skills to deal with time sensitive material.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality is required.
- Ensures confidentiality and works in an ethical manner.
- Experience working within a research environment an asset.
- Familiarity with contractual, ethical and financial issues.
- Experience working with granting agencies and industry.
