Reporting to the Co-Executive Director, the Manager of Programming will help to build an annual calendar of events, in partnership with local and international artists, organizations and stakeholders, that enliven the Bentway site and engage a broad and diverse set of visitors. The Manager of Programming will support and lead the development of new Bentway commissions and productions, as well as partnerships and off-site initiatives and events. The Manager of Programming will have direct oversight over key portfolios within the Bentway’s seasonal programming, artistic commissioning and cultural/community partnerships.

This role will work standard business hours, with (optional) evenings and weekends to support Bentway events/programming. This role will be required to split their time between The Bentway’s office (55 Fort York Blvd) and work-from-home (a laptop will be provided).

**key responsibilities**
- Develop content for Bentway programs, events and commissions, and act as the producer on select programs and events and partnerships
- Ensure that programs and events respond to and reflect community needs, are inclusive of Toronto’s diverse populations, and acknowledge the site’s Indigenous and historical significance
- Manage and monitor project budgets, and develop programs within set financial parameters
- Manage and monitor program schedules to ensure coordination with Facilities, Development and Communications teams, as well as project partners and external stakeholders
- Provide administrative support to the Co-Executive Director and senior-level volunteers
- Manage support staff, including event supervisors and volunteer coordinators, to ensure that programs meet performance objectives
- Work with Production and Facilities staff to meet all technical and logístical requirements including: production materials and equipment, permits and permissions, in/out schedules, shipping and transportation, OH&S and risk management plans; and ensure all site requirements are confirmed
- Work with the Communications team to support event promotion, reach potential target audiences/participants and communities, and ensure all artist/partner obligations are met
- Work with the Co-Executive Director to guide the development of strategic partnerships
- Work with community stakeholders to ensure that programs reflect the diverse interests and needs of the local residents and businesses as well as the broader Bentway community
- Additional Duties as Assigned

**qualifications**
- Relevant post-secondary education (in curatorial practice, collections management, arts and cultural programming, design, arts administration, etc.) or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of five years’ professional experience in arts programming and management
- Knowledge and experience with organization and event management/ production, visual arts, multidisciplinary performance and installations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with the public
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple partners, artists and artistic companies from project conceptualization through to presentation
- Previous experience with budgeting and scheduling for events, as well as contracting for artists and suppliers
- Very strong written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including artists, promoters and fabricators
- Ability to think creatively, and conceive and implement new ideas
- Evidence of problem-solving skills, and the ability to multi-task and remain calm in high-pressure situations
- Ability to use computers and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word). Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp are considered an asset
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors and in new and emerging venues
- Ability and willingness to work outside of typical office hours (evenings and weekends)
