- About The Aspen PCN
The Aspen Primary Care Network (PCN) first became operational in 2010, serving three communities. Since then, we have grown to include partnership between family physicians in Athabasca, Westlock, Barrhead, Swan Hills, Kinuso, High Prairie and Wabasca, Alberta. In total, the PCN has 43 participating physicians serving approximately 30,000 residents within our region.
Our priorities are to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention, and to enable successful self-management of chronic diseases and conditions.

The Wood Buffalo and Aspen Primary Care Networks are looking for a temporary full-time Accounting Administrator. This is a shared responsibility position between both organizations. This is an autonomous job position that requires an individual who takes initiative and is proactive in managing the finances. The role requires an individual who can remain organized and focused in a fast paced, evolving environment.
- What You Will Do
- Provide accounting support to the ED for both the Wood Buffalo and Aspen PCNs
- Prepare bank deposits, journal entry postings, and statements
- Reconcile bank accounts within 1 week of month end
- Daily entry of vendor invoices in Sage 50
- Reconcile grant funding reports on a monthly basis
- Provide timely assistance and support to the Executive Director
- Provide support and document accounting processing and procedures
- Inform management and compile monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports/summaries on activity areas
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and investment accounts
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, expense reports, and other disbursements as required and ensures these transactions are recorded in accordance with CGAAP for health care/not for profit organizations
- Reconciles grant funding to expenses incurred and provides Program Reports on monthly basis
- What You Need To Succeed
- 2 - 4 years related financial or accounting experience, preferably in a health care environment
- Can be working towards CPA designation or recently designated
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 50
- Receive, act on, or re-direct confidential correspondence, inquiries, and issues
- Accounting designation, or pursuit of, is a desirable requirement (e.g. CPA)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting) is a desirable requirement, or equivalency in experience
- 2- 4 years experience in a progressively responsible accounting or financial role, and experience with full-cycle (fiscal year) accounting is required.
- Advanced Excel knowledge and skills required
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person, on the telephone, and electronically
