Assistant Financial Controller

Wabash MFG Inc is looking to add a permanent, full-time, on-site, position for an Assistant Financial Controller to join our team.
The Assistant Financial Controller will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for managing financial accounting and reporting activities while ensuring they are being performed accurately, efficiently, and in in accordance with established time frames and company and professional standards. This position will oversee all accounting duties managing the process of financial statement preparation, providing financial reporting and maintaining timely and accurate general ledger records. This position will assist in supervising a team to ensure delegated work is timely, accurate, and delivered on schedule.
**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk and increase return on investments
- Standardize and maintain a system of accounting records and techniques
- Trained in all accounting positions to step in if needed
- Conduct internal audits to assess financial status
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
- Perform inventory transactions, reconciliations, and analyses
- Coordinate the preparation of year end data
- Oversee various account analyses and reconciliations and on-going review of journal entries
- Ensures diligent record keeping and audit trails
- Serve as liaison for corporate controller, external accountants while ensuring financial information is presentable.
- Develop and document business process and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Interface with all internal departments
- Assist co-workers and supervisors with related duties as requested
- Ensure that our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System is always followed as to ensure that customer’s requirements are meet and all applicable regulatory requirements.
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting or relevant experience will be considered
- 5 years of prior related experience working for a manufacturing company
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Office, Excel
- Previous experience using ERP Software
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to detail
- Self-motivated and hardworking individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
