Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.
The Research Associate will be a member of the Medical Oncology research team. Responsibilities of this position will include planning, implementing and coordinating all aspects of project development, study activation, project management, data collection and data monitoring/auditing; managing several ongoing projects (10+), at various stages with competing timelines; developing grant and project budgets as well as managing study finances; providing advice to investigators and collaborators on research feasibility, design, and methodology; performing literature searches to aid in project development and ongoing updates; preparing and providing ongoing support for study-related contract agreements.
**Rate of Pay**:To commensurate with experience
**Hours of work**: 30 hours per week
**Duration**: One year, renewable
**Qualifications**:
- Successful completion of a Master’s degree in health sciences
- 5+ years of experience in clinical research involving humans
- Experience working with granting agencies or project management
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- WREM/Infonetica software knowledge required
- Experience with Board of Records that include Western University REB, CTO and OCREB
- Knowledge of local REB requirements and Lawson approval is essential
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic data entry (eCRFs) and databases
- Demonstrated knowledge of current regulations and guidelines for clinical trials (ICH GCP, Health Canada Food and Drug Regulations (Part, Division 5), USA FDA 21 CFR, TCPS2 Tri-Council Policy Statement, and privacy legislation (PIPEDA, PHIPA)
- Experience in financial tracking systems, invoicing and account reconciliation
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written skills for communicating effectively with health care professionals
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Strong time management skills as many projects have competing deadlines
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and adherence to study protocol requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
