The Diabetes Alliance Research Program within the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine, led by Dr. Stewart Harris, a wholly grant-funded program, is comprised of three distinct research programs: Hypoglycemia, Clinical Trials and Community-driven Indigenous Research. The vision of the Diabetes Alliance is to be a global leader in diabetes research by cultivating collaborative partnerships and research excellence through innovation and translation of findings into discoveries. The Hypoglycemia Program seeks to generate real-world epidemiological evidence that can be used to design strategies for preventing hypoglycemia.

**Responsibilities**:
**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics

**Experience**:
- 5 years’ of experience in an academic research setting in the following areas: diabetes, hypoglycemia, survey methods, epidemiology and biostatistics
- Demonstrated experience ensuring research projects are successfully implemented, data organized and analyzed
- Demonstrated experience with effectively presenting results in table and graphic forms in scientific poster/oral presentations and international congress/symposiums
- Demonstrated success with manuscript writing, and grant writing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Working knowledge and experience with CIHR (including ResearchNet) and other granting agencies in Canada (e.g., Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada) and the US (i.e., National Institutes of Health; Alzheimer’s Association)
- Superior written, editorial and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent planning and time management skills, with ability to multi-task, produce and coordinate projects with tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively correspond with all research personnel and stakeholders (e.g., co-investigators and project collaborators)
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and accountably in a positive manner
- Ability to work flexibly and take on a variety of tasks as a leader of a team
- Self-driven, independent critical thinker who is highly motivated and skilled at anticipating and resolving stakeholder relation issues
- Strong leadership and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage research personnel and resolve issues
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and effectively use a reference management system for research papers, manuscripts and grants
- Advanced skills in statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS), including importing datasets, managing and cleaning data, and conducting univariate, bivariate and multivariable data analytic approaches
- Solid understanding of many different types of quantitative analysis, including longitudinal analyses and effectively dealing with missing data (e.g., multiple imputation)
- Ability to interpret and identify key results from medical research and to succinctly summarize research findings in plain language
