**Salary**: $2,694.27 to $3,537.86 bi-weekly ($70,320 - $92,338/year)
Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.
**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible to assist in the delivery and implementation of capital projects through planning, design, construction, building & operational commissioning and turnover stages for assigned capital projects.
The Project Coordinator is the liaison between the client/user, consultants and the construction team and must balance client/user needs within project constraints, obtaining maximum cooperation between client/user groups, support departments, external agencies, consultants and contractors.The Project Coordinator is a key member of the project team and supports the delivery of capital projects to ensure they are delivered within scope, budget, time, and quality to client's satisfaction and within safe working conditions. The Project Coordinator identifies resolution of contract deviations to ensure projects move ahead and on schedule and maintains effective communications and relationships with all clients and stakeholders.
The primary responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include (but are not limited to):
- Establishes and maintains a network of relationships to influence decision-making affecting project outcomes with internal groups/departments
- Supports the project manager in all aspects of the project delivery.
- Ensures departmental policies, guidelines and contracts specific to the project are adhered to.
- Provides technical expertise to ensure that projects are progressing and that issues and problems are addressed and resolved
- Reviews business cases, functional programs, design documentation and contract documents to ensure that all client and construction requirements have been included, e.g. decanting, demolition and building system issues
- Initiates and chairs construction meetings on assigned projects
- Participates in the review of drawings and specifications to ensure adherence to building standards and coordinates input from client users to confirm functionality where appropriate
- Provides input to the analyses of technical and situational information to determine potential impact on services, facilities, systems and/or staff
- Prepare schedules and cost estimates, coordinates/monitors construction progress on a daily basis.
- Provides reports and briefings to the Project Manager to update project status, provide cash flow projections and cost information
- Coordinates all moves at the site and ensures the resolution to identified deficiencies

**Qualifications**:
**Required**
- Two-year technical diploma in Architectural/Engineering technology, journeyman tradesman, or a related field
- Minimum six years’ experience in:
- institutional and/or government construction experience (ie. courthouses, correctional facilities, museums, schools) or;
- a superintendent in a construction related building industry
- and/or trade experience in institutional and/or government construction.
- Class 5 driver’s license
**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered based on:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Assets**:
- Knowledge of the construction industry, including construction and building codes
- Knowledge of construction agreements and associated contracts
- Knowledge of project management theories, principles, practices and processes
