The Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association is a non-profit organization that provides a diverse range of culturally safe and supportive services to Aboriginal people in Surrey and the Fraser Salish region. The Friendship Centre works from a decolonizing perspective, and as such, works to strengthen family bonds between generations and within the family.

**Your Duties**:
- Serving as a point of contact for Indigenous children and families, care providers and Indigenous organizations and communities who are requesting support directly related to children and youth in the areas of health, education, and social services
- Building strong relationships and partnerships with front line workers and professionals, including but not limited to social workers, medical and education professionals
- Building strong relationships and partnerships with local Provincial and Federal Government services in health, education, and social sector. Including but not limited to Ministry of Children and Family Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Provincial Regional Health Authorities, and ISC.
- Maintaining strong relationships with First Nations Health Authority, First Nations Education Steering Committee, Delegated Aboriginal Agencies, and Friendship Centres.
- Supporting Indigenous children and families in preparations and submission of Jordan’s Principle and Inuit Child First Initiative requests when a gap, delay, disruption, or deficiency in existing services or supports is apparent
- Developing and implementing a program marketing strategy to ensure that children and families are aware of the service.
- Assessing eligibility; and supporting children and families to confirm eligibility for services.
- Accessing health, education and social supports through Jordan’s Principle and Inuit Child First Initiative to address gaps
- Contacting ISC BC Region Jordan’s Principal team on behalf of such children and their families
- Developing and implementing strong collaborative relationships with FRAFCA programs, Circle 5 MCFD Youth Team and other Surrey Youth Serving resources.
- Tracking client and program outcomes, reporting monthly and quarterly to the Executive Director, the Program Manager, and our funder.
- Attending partnership meetings on behalf of the program in collaboration with the funder and community partners.
- Performing community outreach as needed.
- Providing support to Indigenous children and families including intake, assessment, referral, and coordination of services and supports.
- Advocating for children and families to access other supports that will lead to improved health, social, and educational outcome
- Supporting through connections, advocacy, referral, accompaniment, coaching, mentoring, and support.
- Working within a strength-based framework and assisting children and families to build on their existing skills and develop their own capabilities.
- Advocating on behalf of children and families including forms completion, securing identification, and accessing services in the Fraser Region.
- Collecting intake information and keep excellent client files for each client served.
- Assessing clients’ and manage a caseload.
- Maintaining records for reporting purposes according to FOIPPA.
- Making appropriate client referrals, both internal and external to the organization.
- Supporting a targeted client count of 300 children and families per year.
- Other duties as required.
