Defence Construction Canada (DCC) delivers contracting, contract management, environmental and other services in support of the defence of Canada, collaborating with its primary Client-Partners, the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, on infrastructure projects at bases, wings and other military establishments across Canada. Working with DCC is an opportunity to gain knowledge of and experience in a wide range of fields, including construction, environmental sciences, procurement, project management, facilities management, finance, information technology services and human resources.

Human Resources Project Assistant (Student) works at DCC's Ottawa Head Office with a team of professional who provide high-quality, timely and effective human resources programs and services for 1000-plus employees. The Human Resources Project Assistant (Student) will support DCC's Policies and Programs team as well as the DEI and Wellness team.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Support the administration and maintenance of human resources programs and projects, such as training, performance management, workplace wellness, job evaluation, vacation travel allowance, and non-elective medical travel
- Support Workplace Wellness and Mental Health and Diversity and Inclusion strategy initiatives
- Provide support for the creation of training tools, forms, resources and guidelines to support new and ongoing programs and policies
- Cultivate strong and positive working relationships with key stakeholders
- Maintain and update Human Resources documentation, databases and files

**EDUCATION**
- Preferably be currently enrolled or have recently completed a human resources diploma or degree program

**GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES**
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficiency with computer software programs and operating systems, including Microsoft Office
- Good judgement, positive attitude and flexible nature
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of both official languages is preferred

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance.
- DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process_. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints.
