WHERE YOU COME IN
We are looking for a Manager, Development - Major Gifts to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Chapter Director, you will be accountable for developing and executing fundraising strategies and providing expertise to coordinate fundraising activities for the province/region, with a focus on Major Gifts. This role will be responsible for securing, managing and growing a diverse portfolio of major gifts across Ontario.
This role can be based in Toronto or Pickering and is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work in collaboration with direct supervisor to develop and execute short-term and long-term development goals, ensuring increased revenue year-over-year focusing on Major Gifts and Foundations.
- Responsible for managing the logistics and execution of our Major Gifts Program in Ontario.
- Strengthen and expand revenue development opportunities with existing donors through cultivation and implementation of strategies.
- Prospect research to identify and recruit new Major Gift donors and develop customized stewardship strategies.
- Collaborate with national and regional staff as appropriate in fulfilling the mission, strategy and goals of MAWC.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all fundraising initiatives.
- Utilize strong Salesforce knowledge to input and track donor activities, reporting.
- Utilize strong prospect research skills and programs.
- Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for the Foundation, specifically when communicating with donors and other stakeholders.
- Continuously works to increase awareness of MAWC through all contacts and business interactions through relationships, marketing, and promotion.
- Adhere to Imagine Canada’s Ethical Code.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary education in Nonprofit Management, Research, Business, Communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 5-7 years of experience in grant writing, foundation relations, or fundraising within a nonprofit organization.
- Proven track record of securing significant grant funding from foundations and other granting organizations.
- Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to create persuasive and compelling narratives.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders, including donors, senior volunteers and internal stakeholders.
- Highly organized, with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong proficiency in Salesforce or equivalent CRM systems.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
