As our organization, clientele and reach have rapidly expanded over the past few years, we would like to see this growth and expansion reflected on our website. We are seeking a complete overhaul of the design, functionalities, and content of our existing website. The newly developed website should cater to our needs for the next five years, keeping in view our growth trajectory.

2. Agency Introduction

Action for Healthy Communities Society of Alberta (AHC- Alberta) is a community-based organization. Since 1995, AHC has been supporting individuals and groups to build their capacities and shape a healthy and vibrant community. Action for Healthy Communities works with Albertans to build connections within communities by making it easier for individuals and diverse groups to develop actions that improve their community’s health and well-being.

What we currently have:
Our current website was updated in 2018 to reflect the organization's scope. As a result, much of the information has become outdated, and the overall design no longer meets the broader needs of our clients or various stakeholders.

The gaps we are trying to address on our current website:
Difficulties with navigation

Our current website layout is difficult to navigate for the diverse audience that AHC engages (for example: new immigrants to Canada, Indigenous populations, grassroots community groups, our current and prospective funders, stakeholders and partners across Canada, etc.). We currently don’t have filters which allow site visitors to navigate the website based on their individual needs and interests. Areas of the website which are accessed by diverse audiences need to be more accessible based on various needs such as simplified English, with the ability to translate webpages into various languages, auditory and visual impairments.

Lack of a comprehensive resource hub

It’s our goal that through the redesign of the site, we'll have a platform which not only share information about our own programs and activities but also connects site visitors with external resources that will benefit them, in addition to showcasing/highlighting the affairs, stories and achievements of our community members.

Lack of integrated, automated, and interactive content

AHC has content that is relevant to users across multiple website pages and other platforms (ex. events on the event page, social media platforms, career opportunities on BambooHR, our LMS and other online portals etc.). Currently, there is not much integration of impactful information or opportunities throughout the website as well as across other platforms, due to both limitations on design for sharing across pages and other platforms, and lack of easy, intuitive integration methods.

Lack of visibility and reach

The newly developed website should help to increase our visibility and promotion of our brand across Canada.

What we would like to see:
Improvements with navigation and functionality

The ability for information and resources on the website to be sorted, filtered, selected, or searched by users. This will need to be applicable to filtering or selecting between various options of programs and services, events, resources, or other collection of similar or cate
