**OVERVIEW**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Vice President, Data to join our dynamic IT team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Technology and Data Officer, this position has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the enterprise data portfolio.

As a member of the IT leadership team, the Vice President, Data is responsible for managing and leveraging Alberta Blue Cross data assets and will drive our data and technology innovation agenda. They will oversee data operations, the development and implementation of robust information lifecycle management and data governance practices, enhance data-driven decision-making, and champion technology innovation with a dedicated team focusing on problem definition, research, experimentation, prototyping, and scaling new ideas. They will ensure that data and technology innovation capabilities are tightly integrated to deliver measurable value across our organization.

A key mandate of this role is to successfully execute on a critical organizational strategic pillar - operationalizing our data. This will be achieved by accelerating the evolution of our data capabilities focused on:
(i) liberating our data,

(ii) ensuring the trustworthiness of our data, and

(iii) democratizing the skills required to leverage our data.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Be an inspirational leader of our enterprise data and technology innovation portfolios.
- Mentor individuals in the data and technology teams, with the goal of building and retaining innovative, engaged, and high performing teams.
- Responsible for operational and strategic plans to enable data and technology innovation projects, operational initiatives, and systems support and to manage resource utilization to deliver on data mandates.
- Ensure successful delivery of high-quality data and technology innovation solutions that meet stakeholder expectations.
- Provide recommendations, implement, and monitor the team’s multi-year strategic plan.
- Develop effective working relationships across the organization at all levels, actively partnering with our business leaders.
- Establish and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with external entities to develop and execute our strategic plans.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- ** Data management**
- ** Data strategy**: Collaborate with other key stakeholders to develop and implement the organization’s data strategy to align data initiatives with overall business strategy to support business objectives.
- ** Data architecture and engineering**:Oversee design, development, and sustainment of data integration, data quality, and data privacy solutions and products.
- ** Data science and analytics**: Oversee efforts to derive actionable insights from data to inform business decisions, utilizing advanced analytics, and AI technologies and techniques.
- ** Data literacy**: Foster data literacy across the organization by providing best practices around data management, reporting and analytics. Establish and oversee data-related communities of interest.
- ** Information lifecycle management (ILM)**
- Establish and maintain ILM and data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, compliance, and security.
- Ensure ethical collection, sharing, and safeguarding of data.
- ** Technology innovation lab**
- Oversee the demand, development, and execution of technology and data innovation projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
- ** Inspiration & ideation**: Explore and gather data to inform our decisions. Learn and understand new technologies and how they may solve business problems.
- ** Incubation**: Conduct trials to experiment, evaluate, and determine if large scale implementation can deliver identified outcomes. Formalize risk-adjusted delivery approach that factors in requirements for changes to people, process, and technology.
- ** Activation**: Embed solutions into recurring operations business processes.
