Oak Bay, Canada District of Oak Bay Full time

**EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY**
**Executive Assistant to the Mayor and CAO**:
**Regular Full-Time ($39.63/hour - $45.44/hour - 2023 Rates)**

The District of Oak Bay is a picturesque seaside community located within the Greater Victoria Region, with a population of 18,000. While offering all the amenities of a large metropolitan urban centre, Oak Bay has succeeded in maintaining all the peacefulness and charm of a small town. Residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life, with miles of spectacular West Coast shoreline, brilliant beaches, parks and greenspace, quaint tree-lined streets and vibrant, boutique villages just beyond their doorsteps.

This is an exciting opportunity for an administrative professional who thrives on delivering high-quality, behind-the-scenes support to elected officials and senior staff in a highly collaborative and service-oriented environment. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Executive Assistant works in an evolving, fast-paced environment, providing a broad range of senior administrative and confidential support services to the Mayor and CAO, as well as the Strategic Initiatives team. The work is varied - at times routine and at other times complex, requiring a high level of accuracy, discretion, and diplomacy. The Executive Assistant plays a key role in helping the District deliver excellent service to the community. Executive support will include coordinating and preparing for meetings and events, researching and summarizing issues, preparing, and updating documents and correspondence, managing calendars, and liaising with residents and District staff in an expeditious and highly professional manner.

You bring years of local government experience and have previously, or are now ready, to support a Mayor and CAO. You have achieved success through your proactive, resourceful, and humble approach. You bring diverse skills, energy, enthusiasm, quiet confidence, and a desire to continuously improve.

You are kind, thoughtful, understanding, supportive, and are always willing to lend a hand to colleagues. You calmly take in details and facts and glean insights of value to those you work for. You easily tune into what needs to be done and take care of the immediate needs of the moment. You are good with details. You rise to just about any occasion with seemingly little effort—and often find ways to save time and resources. You find it easy to find a practical course of action to a pressing issue and are exceptional at following up and following through whether a particular task excites you or not. Given your previous local government experience, you inherently know who is responsible for what and how to appropriately communicate with all.

We are a small but hard-working team, strongly committed to always doing our best and ensuring positive outcomes for the organization and the community. With a progressive Council and collaborative and cohesive Leadership Team in place, the organization is on an exciting trajectory, as we strive to position ourselves as a recognized leader in all aspects of municipal governance and service delivery.

As an employer of choice, the District of Oak Bay is committed to fostering a culture of empowerment, accountability, and teamwork. We’ll provide you with a friendly work environment where you can grow and flourish. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment with continued career development and professional development opportunities. At Oak Bay, our people and their well-being is a priority; we want your work to be an important and enjoyable part of your life, but we don’t want it to take over your life.

To succeed in this role, you will have related educational credentials and a minimum of five years of directly related and progressive experience in a local government or public sector setting, which includes previous experience working with senior level staff. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

The District has previously enacted a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy to safeguard the wellbeing of all employees. This policy may be reinstated based on the level of assessed risk to District employees or Provincial Health Order requirements.
