The Postdoc will work closely with Dr. Jennifer Leason and their research team to research and compile First Nations, Métis and Inuit maternal child health indicators, measures, and baselines through data sovereignty, needs, gaps and contexts. The postdoc will include multiple literature reviews: including, but not limited to, scoping, systematic, realist, and meta-synthesis reviews.

The research team includes undergraduate and graduate students, Elder Co-Chair, Indigenous and ally researchers and community collaborators. The teams research focuses on improving the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of Indigenous women, children, families, and communities. Dr. Leason¿s current research projects, with which this position will assist, are centered around developing an Indigenous maternal-child health strategy proposal.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the development of baseline knowledge regarding Indigenous, First Nations, Métis and Inuit maternal child health. The role will undertake and coordinate literature reviews, including commissioned research reports and rapid research responses, all based on systematic, scoping, realist, and meta-synthesis review methods. The role will also include training, supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students related to this work.

**Accountabilities/Tasks and Duties**:

- Conducting systematic, scoping, realist, and meta-analysis reviews and overseeing the quality assurance of these.
- Scanning relevant emerging literature to inform long and short-term topic planning for research projects.
- Scoping potential topics to ensure depth and suitability for future issues.
- Designing search parameters and strategies.
- Conducting assessments of articles and reviews.
- Developing and maintaining research documents, including project notes.
- Summarizing and synthesizing research evidence.
- Training and supervising junior staff, e.g., research assistants and students as needed.
- Developing, Testing, and recommending new scientific review methods as needed.
- Conducting systematic, scoping, realist, and meta-analysis reviews including contributing to data analyses and writing.
- Compiling literature for academic publication, including introductions, results, discussion, bibliographies, etc.
- Contributing to policy, public, and academic publications, and presentations.
- Managing timelines, deadlines, and outcome, along with coordinating team meetings, taking meeting notes, and finalizing meeting notes and agendas.
- Managing multiple stakeholders, research partners and organizations.
- Create and maintain project plans, mapping and ensure timelines are met within the project.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum five years of relevant and successful experience working on multiple types of research studies including but not limited to literature reviews.
- Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate students/researchers.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and successfully manage multiple competing priorities.
- Skilled in Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Manual for Evidence Synthesis and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR).
- Experiences in writing review protocols, registering, and publishing review protocols.
- Experience with Covidence and/or other data extraction tools for conducting literature reviews.
- Experience with Endnote, SPSSS, STATA, MAXQDA and/or other research software.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Research analytical skills: this includes knowledge and practical experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis, knowledge synthesis, interpretation, and knowledge dissemination.
- Proven ability to exercise initiative in conducting research and ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Excellent computer skills, including proven experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality in dealing with, external agencies, and researchers.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including cultural safety and inter-cultural competency when working with and for First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples, communities, and organizations.
- Effective time and project management skills, including the ability to set priorities, meet timelines and deadlines.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
