Edmonton, Canada Canada Learning Code Full time

volunteer. May 1, 2024

Description

**Join Our Mission**:
Canada Learning Code (CLC) is a national charity that designs, delivers, and partners on technology education for adults in Canada. The Edmonton Chapter places a special emphasis on women, transgender and beyond binary adults.

Through hands-on workshops, mentorship, and a supportive community, Canada Learning Code provides a welcoming space for professional women to explore coding, web development, and other technical skills. By offering accessible and beginner-friendly learning experiences, Canada Learning Code aims to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry and empower women to pursue fulfilling careers in technology.

Canada Learning Code is not just about learning programming; it's about gaining the confidence and skills needed to ✨ thrive in a digital world ✨ and pursue a passion for technology.

**Unleash Your Creativity**:
The Edmonton Chapter for Canada Learning Code is in need of a Chapter Coordinator to focus specifically on Marketing and Social Media As a Chapter Coordinator, you will be part of the leadership team that manages all upcoming events and can influence the digital literacy initiatives we have planned. Not only does this role have a high impact on the tech community in Edmonton, it’s also an incredible opportunity to own and execute (and experiment with) a marketing strategy with complete autonomy. Your creativity and strategic thinking will be instrumental in driving our mission forward and reaching new audiences.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote the Edmonton LLC events.
- Interacting with users and responding to/forwarding social media messages, inquiries, and comments.

**Who We’re Looking For**:

- **
You do not need to be a marketing or social media professional/expert**:

- Your natural communication and interpersonal skills shine in any social situation. You may have been referred to as a “social butterfly” by others
- When you scroll through online videos, you often consider how they could be improved—and how you could enhance them yourself.
- You have a keen eye for design and you love creating visually appealing content that stands out in a crowded feed.
- You love using social media to share your experiences and connect with others who have similar interests.
- You can explore different social media platforms and experiment with different types of content to see what resonates with your audience.
- You are self-motivated with great time management skills.
- You're 18+ and can pass a criminal record background check.

**Commitment**:

- This is a 6-month commitment (May through October) with a possibility to extend
- We host an event every 3 weeks. You must be able to attend at least 3 (of your choice).

**Why Volunteer With Us**:

- Build experience with a reputable organization
- Access to ongoing networking opportunities within Edmonton's vibrant tech community.
- Receive professional references and a glowing letter of recommendation.

**How to Apply**:

- Why do you want to volunteer with Canada Learning Code in Edmonton?
- How would you increase user participation in Canada Learning Code using a marketing strategy?
- Are you able to commit to the next 6 months and attend at least 3 events?
