**Position Title**:Affirming (2SLGBTQIA+) Coordinator
**Organization**:SSUC (Spiritual Seekers United in Community/Southminster-Steinhauer United Church)

**Position Summary**

The Affirming (2SLGBTQIA+) Coordinator is a leader in sustaining and enhancing support and programming for the 2SLGBTQIA+ and ally community within SSUC; as well as initiating and enhancing relationships between SSUC and broader 2SLGBTQIA+ support agencies, groups, and affirming congregations. This position works collaboratively with other SSUC staff and volunteers.

SSUC is a unique in person and online spiritual community, located in both Edmonton and Saskatoon, that is:

It is the home of Emberwood (queer and ally nature programming) and Camp Dragonfly (summer camp for trans and gender creative children).

**Responsibilities**

The Affirming (2SLGBTQIA+) Coordinator advocates for a culture of inclusivity within SSUC and the broader community by:

- Working closely with the Affirm Committee to build awareness, connection, and education within the SSUC ally and 2SLGBTQIA+ community (including family members)Develop and coordinate programming according to stated and emerging needs in cooperation with the SSUC Affirm Committee such as 2nd Sunday Brunches, speaker events, dances, Pride Parade;
- Establishing and strengthening connections and coordination between Edmonton and Saskatoon affirming ministries;participating and contributing in activities/initiatives of other affirming faith communities;
- Identifying and developing partnerships with local 2SLGBTQIA+ agencies (eg. Pride Center, PFLAG, etc.) to share resources and enhance programming and supports
- Working with the Marketing and Digital Content Coordinator to enhance awareness of SSUC as an inclusive community

**Requirements**:

- Openness to an expansive exploration of spirituality/christianity
- Ability to connect and communicate 2SLGBTQIA+ issues
- Post-secondary education in a related area or equivalent work experience
- Minimum one year experience in a coordinating type of role, ideally within a church or community-based non-profit organization
- Experience organizing activities and events such as educational and/or social events
- Familiarity with standard computer office products and relevant project and communication tools
- Strong oral and written communication
- Highly organized and excellent time management
- Ability to establish and sustain new relationships with individuals and groups of all ages
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- A satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Access to a car and valid driver’s license is an asset

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $14,000.00-$16,800.00 per year
