Wisdom, respect, humility, sharing, harmony, beauty, strength, and spirituality are the values of First Nations University of Canada.- Under the general supervision of the Payroll Manager and with the guidance of the Comptroller, the Finance & Payroll Administrator provides payroll and finance administration for the University.**Responsibilities**:

- This position will be primarily responsible for providing administrative support and coverage for the payroll and finance department.
- This position will involve assisting with processing salary payments semi-monthly, preparing and processing salary adjustments, salary deductions, remittances, and other employee and elder deductions and payments, including expense reimbursements and honoraria payments in a timely manner.
- Accountable for complying with federal and provincial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements.
- Provide confidential payroll information to employees upon request.
- Assist with semi-annual internal payroll and accounting audits.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure payroll processes and workflows are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain administrative reports and respond to third-party correspondence.
- Administer payroll reporting and reconciliations and maintain payroll documentation and files.
- Handle pay inquiries and support the Payroll Manager in setting up new employees and processing compliance forms.
- Administer updates to health and dental benefits.
- Collaborating with the contracts administrator to ensure employment contracts are accurately recorded internally and that internal audit procedures are performed in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely payment to employees and elders, including the administration, reconciliation and recording of all employee expense claims, professional development requests, elder honoraria and guest lecture requests, as well as employee and elder travel advances.
- Record all payroll entries in the finance ERP system.
- Prepare payroll-related reconciliations in collaboration with the Payroll Manager and the Comptroller.
- Assist with T4A procedures for elders and guest lecturers.

**Qualifications**:

- Two-years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Certificate in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a Canadian Payroll Certification.
