**Purpose and Responsibilities**

The Accounting Administrator is part of a team providing financial, payroll and accounting services to the company and/or subsidiary/sister organizations. The accounting administrator is responsible for performing a variety of duties for the organizations including verifying and reconciling transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cheques and bank statements. Other responsibilities include Regulatory filing, clerical and customer service duties including various office administration tasks.

**Job Duties**
- Reconciliation of accounts including: bank statements, group benefits, RPP contributions, service accounts,payroll remittances to CRA and Workers Compensation.
- Calculate commissions
- Ensure the creation and timely distribution of T4s.
- Completion of Record of Employment forms
- Processing personal cash expense claims
- Processing/reconciling credit card statements
- Audit accounts to make sure payments are timely
- GST and PST filing
- Reconcile payroll, ensuring correct data entry, adherence to procedures and policies, that all wage changes are made accurately and deductions are made as scheduled
- Administer and reconcile petty cash
- Prepare inter-company billings and reconcile inter-company loans.
- Prepare and record journal entries.
- Provide backup to persons processing and inputting payroll data, accounts receivable and payable as required
- Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends
- Perform related office administration duties which include maintaining filing and record systems, distribution and photocopying of financial and non-financial records/reports as well as reception duties
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- Business Degree or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Preference for CPA or student working toward CPA
- Two to three years working experience in accounting
- Knowledge of accepted accounting standards, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures

**Working Conditions**
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Sitting for long periods of time
- Concentrated reading of documentation or close monitoring of computer terminals and display panels
- Regularly deals with simultaneous multiple demands which must be attended to immediately
- Regular peak periods requiring an accelerated work pace over which there is little control
- Occasional highly repetitive and monotonous tasks
- Some travel, mainly within the city and surrounding area, may be required

PERFORMANCE FACTORS
- Requires giving professional advice or direction to other employees of the organization. There is an element of influence and some negotiation in this level, but it is not a regular activity.
- This position requires an exchange of information with outside contacts.
- Problems or situations can be unique and require interpretation. Judgment is required to identify the most appropriate solution from several options.
- Responsibilities and objectives are assigned with some latitude for technical or administrative decision making using written policy and administrative directives. Unusual problems may be discussed with your supervisor or others for clarification of the policy.
- Work involves providing functional advice and guidance within a specialized discipline with some control responsibilities for maintaining standards
